- Years of Service Recognition Program Job Summary Therestorative nursing aide serves as caregiver to the resident duringthe scheduled work period in long term care.
Uses appropriatemobility, balance and strengthening exercises, incorporating intotherapeutic activities. Includes using adaptive equipment, fallprevention, appropriate turning, positioning and repositioningtechniques, basic range of motion exercises, and good bodymechanics. Assists with training and implementation of specialprograms designed to improve resident’s quality of life, ability toperform daily activities and maintain their highest functionallevel of independence. Obtains resident’s report prior to providingcare. Documents resident’s progress of care and behaviors,recognizes and reports changes in resident’s condition promptly.
Includes dressing/undressing programs, grooming, bathing,toileting, exercise/movement, and eating/swallowing programs.
Demonstrates correct use and application of ice and paraffin baths,heat packets etc. according to state specific regulations. Uses theEMR accurately. Handles linens properly and disposes of soiledlinens, clothing or supplies in adherence to regulations andguidelines: uses standard precautions by using personal protectiveequipment and observes transmission guidelines, washes handsbetween resident cares, report signs/symptoms of residentinfections to appropriate staff in a timely manner. Providesresident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance toassigned resident under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).Knowledge of and delivers age-appropriate care related to thephysical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan.
Considered a member of the nursing team and is expected to know,and will be held accountable for, following infection preventionand control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use.
Qualifications High school graduate or general equivalency diploma(GED) preferred, but not required. Minimum age of 16. Priorclinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term carepreferred. Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificationwith the State Board of Nursing. Completion of a C.NA trainingprogram, training if required by state and at least 40 hours ofspecific training related to restorative care procedures (may beprovided by licensed therapists providing service within theorganization). Satisfactorily completes yearly department specificcompetency testing and maintains a record of continuing educationcredits for each year. Dependent on facility and requiredresponsibilities, this role may classify as a Sanford Category IIDriver requiring a motor vehicle report and proof of valid driver’slicense. Also must be medically qualified to perform the essentialdriving functions of this position as per our Sanford DrivingPolicy per the leaders request.
