Purpose:

Certified Nurse Aide assists the licensed staff in the assisted care of the personal care resident in accordance with federal, state, local and facility standards, guidelines and regulations that govern the facility.

Reports To:

Personal Care Coordinator and/or

Personal Care Supervisor, Personal Care Administrator Primary Job Duties:
  • Complies with established policies and procedures and maintains established standards and practices.
  • Keeps all information about residents, their condition, and family confidential.
  • Assists the residents in a manner conductive to their safety, comfort and independence level.
  • Keeps privileged information about residents confidential according to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Upholds Laurel View Village’s Code of Conduct and follows Corporate Compliance guidelines per the LVV Employee Handbook.
  • Reports any unusual observation or condition to the licensed staff member on duty.
  • Assists in the personal care of the residents as needed.
These duties may include:

a. Assistance with bathing b. Assistance with oral hygiene c. Assistance with hair grooming and shampooing, nail care d. Assistance with dressing and with care of clothes e. Assistance with shaving f. Assistance with tasks of daily living such as care of personal possessions, use of telephone and helping the residents to remember scheduled appointments and activities.

  • Follows posted directions in the event of a fire alarm or drill and assists in prompt evacuation of residents.
  • Assists residents with ambulation as needed, or to and from various areas in the facility.
  • Orients residents to time, place, person and activity as needed.
  • Assists with admission of new residents in such tasks as unpacking and general orientation to room and facility, call lights, etc.
  • Performs all duties in a safe manner and follows infection control, isolation and universal precautions, practices and procedures.
  • Maintains required documentation as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Creates an atmosphere of warmth and personal interest, as well as a calm environment throughout the department.
  • Is responsible for residents’ personal laundry upon request.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Completes annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Compliance in the performance of their duties.
  • Adheres to the Organizations Policies and Procedures regarding the Compliance Program of the organization and is timely in reporting any possible concerns.
  • Follows all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to their position.
  • Adheres to the Organization’s Policies and Procedures covering Privacy and Security in Compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Education and Experience Requirements:

Must be certified in CPR, or willing to be certified. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must be certified as a nursing aid, or meet the requirements to become certified as a nursing aide by the state of Pennsylvania. Must maintain license renewal requirement One (1) year experience in long term care or personal care is preferred, but not required. Must have adequate writing skills to perform required documentation duties. Must have High School diploma.

Must understand the uniqueness of personal care in that our goal is to “assist” where needed yet encourage independence. Must treat residents with kindness and respect and in a cheerful manner. Completes annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Compliance in the performance of their duties. Adheres to the Organizations Policies and Procedures regarding the Compliance Program of the organization and is timely in reporting any possible concerns. Follows all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to their position. Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift 40 to 50 pounds in a team effort. Must be able to work on their feet for 7 1/2 hours at a time, bends, stoop, twist, and turn constantly throughout the shift in performing regular duties. Must rotate shifts as needed and work overtime, weekends and holiday as scheduled. May be exposed to infections waste and disease May be exposed to COVID Must be able to cope with emotional and hostile residents and visitors.
