Job Duties:
The CWS Team Leader – OHAN plans and implements statewide programs in the area of accepting reports of and investigating child abuse and neglect in residential institutions, foster homes, and residential treatment and child care facilities. Supervise and direct professional staff assigned to conduct intake of out of home abuse or neglect reports and to investigate reports of alleged child abuse and neglect in residential institutions, group homes, foster homes, and child care facilities in accordance with DSS Policy, Agency Mission, and GPS Practice Model. Assist in development and implementation of policy governing procedures for out of home abuse and neglect investigations in foster homes, group homes, child care facilities and residential treatment facilities licensed by Department of Social Services, Department of Public Health and /or Department of Mental Health. Provide case managers with EPMS planning and evaluation plans. Participates in hiring and training of all new employees, promotes equal opportunity, develops a diverse workforce, and gives fair opportunity to all staff. Completes performance and practice evaluations on direct reports biannually and upon request for level ascension. Timely submits evaluations for level ascension. Maintain child welfare certification. Completes 20 hours of training yearly to include certifications that are required yearly. is encouraged to attend and participate to assist with skills and development growth. Coordinate with Office of General Counsel with preparing of court actions and participate in staff meetings and/or conferences; represent OHAN at meetings basis. Maintain child welfare certification. Utilize agency data reports to assist with management of unit staff. Maintain an active routine of self-care and pursues support when necessary to minimize the threat of secondary trauma to physical and mental health. Understands the impact of trauma on families and secondary trauma on child welfare staff and applies principles to support families and staff. Performs Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duties/services as directed. Minimum and Additional Requirements A Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years in social services programs, correctional, education, general administrative management, or relevant program experience A Master’s Degree and two (2) years of professional experience in social services programs, correctional, education, general administrative management, or relevant program experience Additional Comments this application for employment with the SC Department of Social Services must be completed in its entirety.
