JOB SUMMARY Performs a variety of fundamental patient care and environmental procedures under the supervision of the Registered nurse. Perform a variety of clerical duties involved in preparing, maintaining, and processing patient, unit (s) and hospital data and records to include operating the organization’s patient care information systems.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and/or experience: High School diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of Tennessee State CNA course and CNA certification exam.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of sterile techniques and special procedures that are applicable to work performed. Knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health and safety precautions applicable to work in a hospital. Working knowledge of principles and practices of providing nonprofessional bedside patient care. Knowledge of infection control procedures, safety precautions, techniques involved in administering routine treatments to patients. Knowledge of telephone etiquette. Working knowledge of general clerical practices and procedures. Working knowledge of spelling and medical terminology

Skills/Abilities:

Excellent Customer service and Active listening, Computer skills. Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to use computer and learn new software programs. Ability to type and knowledge of the HIS procedures to include knowledge of manual procedures when the system is down. Ability to specific departmental rules and regulations relating to verifying, processing and maintaining records and forms. Ability to document and communicate pertinent information using computer and / or paper documentation tools Ability to work and remain focused and organized in a stressful and fast paced environment. Ability to organize and set priorities. Ability to write legibly. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public. Ability to work flexible hours and days to meet facility needs.
