Has oversight for non-licensed operations in Memory Care. Hasthe responsibility of the safety and well-being of all MCresidents. Actively manages resident safety, life enrichmentprograms, non-licensed care, social settings in dining, andappropriate dementia environment. Has the ability as an Alzheimer’strainer, supportgroup facilitator and family advocate. Is overallresponsible for providing a pleasant living environment forresidents under his/her charge and creates a positive workplace forassociates.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise and direct Memory Careassociates.
- Maintain stimulating life enrichment activity programsthat empower, maintain and support individual preferences andcapabilities.
- Maintain environments that promote feelings ofsafety and security, overall well-being and happiness in personaland congregate areas of the community.
- Maintain a positive socialmodel (non-clinical) resulting in a homelike environment.
- Interview residents and families prior to admission and partner inreview with the Director of Resident Care. Completion of PersonCentered Care (PCC) reviews on all new residents admitted.
- Ensureresidents non licensed Activities of Daily Living (ADL) such asbathing, dressing, grooming, dining, continence care, mobility andother functions are being met through partnership with Director ofResident Care.
- Train associates and model expectation forresident’s successful dining experience.
- Responds to resident,family and associate concerns in an appropriate, timely andcourteous manner.
- Develop and execute calendar of Life Enrichmentprograms. Ensure proper documentation of Life Enrichment programson a daily basis.
- Oversight of Family Partnership volunteerprogram for memory care.
- Ensure that associates makes residentrounds every two hours or as required to ensure safety.
- Assist inthe admission, transfer and discharge of residents.
- Accept anyother tasks, assignments or requests as deemed necessary by theExecutive Director.
- Recognizing changes in residents’ conditionsand reporting such changes to the Director of resident care.
- Reporting immediately all accidents involving residents to theDirector of Resident Care.
- Understanding and communicating fireand emergency procedures, hazardous materials, MSDS, and Communitysafety precautions.
- Understanding and ensuring compliance withUniversal Precautions including but not limited to infectioncontrol standards, hazardous waste policies, blood borne pathogensand all safety rules.
- Pursuing education development inAlzheimer’s disease and related disorders.
- The ability to work ina safe and alert manner
- The ability to take ownership forassociate’s safety and the safety of the residents
- Must discloseany medication that might impair associate’s ability to perform thejob safely or competently.
Non-Essential Functions:
- Leads byexample exhibiting the CORE Values through servant leadership-Encourages teamwork and promotes company philosophy
- Attendsrequired community meetings and participates Life Enrichmentactivities when able
- Completes all required courses in adherencewith HRA University if applicable
- Is prompt and able to performthe required duties of the position on a regular, predictable basis
- Becomes familiar and understands how to report a missing personusing the Safe Return program or equivalent
- Becomes familiar andunderstands the steps for fire evacuation
- All associates areresponsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for allcommunity residents Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent education and experience;subject to State requirements.
- Training in dementia care orAlzheimer’s is strongly preferred.
- Able to effectively supervisea diverse employee work group
- One to two years related experienceand/or training or equivalent combination of education, experienceand staff management
- Experience using Microsoft Office andOutlook software. Basic typing skills required
- Previousexperience in caring for seniors in an assisted living or nursinghome environment.
- Supervision and management experience tosupervise staff.
- Able to communicate effectively with all levelsof management, associates, residents, family members, and outsidecontacts
- Able to calculate figures and amounts in order to managesupply and expense budget
- Basic CPR/first aid training
- Knowledge of current Federal and State laws pertaining to assistedliving and/or memory care communities
- Able to make independentdecisions
- Must possess a passion to work with and around seniorcitizens
