Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Resident Care Director (RCD), also known as the Wellness Director, is a licensed nurse (LPN or RN) responsible for overseeing clinical care services in an assisted living community. The RCD ensures quality resident care by supervising nursing staff, developing care plans, conducting assessments, and maintaining compliance with Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) regulations. This role plays a critical part in promoting resident safety, wellness, and dignity through proactive clinical leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Oversight & Compliance
- Manage and monitor all resident health-related services, including assessments, care plans, medication management, and wellness programs
- Ensure compliance with Georgia Assisted Living licensure regulations, infection control protocols, and community policies
- Participate in state surveys and audits; respond to deficiencies and implement corrective actions Staff Supervision & Training
- Recruit, train, and supervise care staff, med techs, and licensed nursing team members
- Conduct ongoing coaching, annual evaluations, and competency checks
- Coordinate and/or lead in-service education and training sessions Resident Care Coordination
- Perform initial and ongoing resident assessments and change of condition evaluations
- Collaborate with physicians, hospice agencies, home health, and families to ensure continuity of care
- Participate in interdisciplinary care meetings and communicate care updates to families Medication & Health Systems Management
- Oversee proper medication storage, administration, documentation, and reconciliation
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in
EMAR / EHR
systems
- Manage pharmacy communication and monthly med cart audits Emergency Preparedness & Safety
- Serve as the on-call clinical contact for urgent resident health issues
- Participate in emergency drills and infection control planning
- Ensure all staff are trained in resident safety protocols
Qualifications:
Licensure & Education
- Active LPN or RN license in the state of Georgia (required)
- CPR and First Aid certification (required)
- Assisted Living Community (ALC) or Memory Care experience preferred Experience
- Minimum 2 years of clinical leadership experience in senior living, home health, or long-term care
- Knowledge of Georgia DCH regulations for assisted living and personal care homes
- Strong leadership, delegation, and problem-solving skills Technology
- Proficient in using EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiar with digital compliance platforms for audits, care plans, and medication tracking
