The Resident Care Director (RCD) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the 33-unit traditional Assisted Living program at our Merrivista property, as well as managing care and support services delivered to Independent Living residents enrolled with the Resident Care Team. The RCD ensures the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care that aligns with Bethany’s service standards and guiding principles while ensuring compliance with the Massachusetts Executive Office of Aging and Independence (AGE) regulations. The RCD provides leadership to a multidisciplinary team, including the Assistant Resident Care Director (ARCD), licensed nursing staff, and Resident Care Aides (RCAs) who are the heart of our resident Care team. Responsibilities include oversight of care planning, staff scheduling for nurses and RCA’s and regulatory compliance matters. In addition the RCD works in collaboration with other departments such as Dining Services, Property Management, and Resident Service Coordinators (RSCs) to support residents receiving services from the Resident Care Team. The RCD plays a vital role in service enhancement and promotion of care offerings for continued growth. This position requires strong leadership, sound organizational judgment, and an understanding of senior living care models to ensure high-quality, coordinated service delivery across both Assisted Living and Independent Living programs.

Requirements:

Education and Licensure Current LPN/RN Licensure Required (RN Preferred) Valid and current driver’s license required. Experience Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory or management experience in an assisted living, home care, or senior care setting is highly desirable. Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams, including nurses and resident care aides (RCA’s), certified nurses, personal care aides etc. Prior experience working with older adults, including knowledge of the aging process, elder services, and care coordination models. Familiarity with mental health issues, disability services, and substance use concerns as they relate to senior care is preferred. Experience with developing and managing individualized care plans and conducting service assessments. Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set clear expectations, foster collaboration, and facilitate resolution. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, staff, and external providers. Ability to organize, advocate, and problem-solve effectively in a fast-paced care environment. Knowledge of federal and state programs such as Medicare, Medicaid/MassHealth, Group Adult Foster Care (GAFC), Senior Care Options (SCOs), and PACE preferred. Working knowledge of supportive service resources for elderly and non-elderly disabled populations. Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems required to ensure timely and accurate documentation. Intermediate to advanced computer skills required; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, internet-based tools, and scheduling or home care software systems is expected. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Ability to travel locally between community locations, as needed. Ability to sit, stand, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds as part of standard job duties. Ability to respond to urgent care needs during on-call shifts and manage clinical or staffing concerns after hours as part of a monthly rotating schedule. Other duties as assigned as may be required to meet the operational needs of the Resident Care Department.
