Role:

As the Residential Care Manager at L’Arche NC, you’ll oversee the daily operations of our community home. You will train and supervise assistants, manage the house budget, coordinate healthcare for core members (adults with I/DD who live in the home), and help cultivate a warm, inclusive house culture. You will also serve as a bridge between the home and families, ensure compliance with policies, and occasionally offer direct support. Your interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills will help shape a house environment where everyone is welcomed, respected, and able to thrive.

Key Responsibilities Training of Assistants:

Develop and lead training for assistants to ensure high-quality, person-centered support tailored to each core member’s needs.

Supervision of Assistants:

Provide ongoing supervision, mentorship, and support to foster a positive and nurturing team culture.

Scheduling:

Coordinate assistant schedules to ensure consistent and adequate staffing.

Managing House Budget:

Oversee the house budget with care and transparency, ensuring resources are used responsibly to meet core members’ needs.

Healthcare Coordination:

Partner with healthcare providers to manage medical appointments, treatments, and medications for core members.

Family Communication:

Maintain open, respectful communication with core members’ families and support networks.

Policy Compliance:

Ensure all operations align with L’Arche NC’s policies, licensure standards, and accreditation requirements. Direct Support (as needed): Step in as a direct support provider when needed to assist with activities of daily living and promote core members’ independence.

Hospitality:

Welcome and engage families, friends, and visitors with L’Arche’s spirit of hospitality.

Leadership Team:

Collaborate with other leaders to shape the direction and mission of L’Arche NC.

Qualifications Clear Background Check:

Must pass a comprehensive background screening.

Strong Interpersonal Skills:

Includes self-awareness, empathy, healthy communication, and conflict resolution.

Organizational Strength:

Able to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines effectively.

Schedule Flexibility:

Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed to support the life of the home. This includes the possibility of last-minute calls to fill in or cover a shift when needed.

Tech Literacy:

Experience using Therap or other relevant electronic health record (EHR) or documentation systems is a plus.

Educational/Professional:

Master’s degree in human service field and a minimum of one year full-time, post-graduate degree accumulated IDD experience with the population served preferred OR Bachelor’s degree in a human service field and two years of full-time, post-bachelor’s degree accumulated IDD experience with the population served OR bachelor’s degree in a field other than human services and four years of full-time, post-bachelor’s degree accumulated IDD experience with the population served minimally required.
