Position Summary
VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT EXTENDED A
clinical/lab instructor shall be responsible for providing students with the knowledge, skills, and communication techniques needed for the students to meet the course objectives related to clinical/laboratory experiences. One employed in this position closely supervises and guides students in college skills lab, simulation activities, and/or in the controlled clinical setting (hospitals, health care facility) and, in conjunction with the guidance of course faculty, objectively assesses student progress.

SALARY:
Based on education and experience commensurate with Salary Schedule D-1 IB for 9 months (range: $39,702 – $64,314). Additional salary for summer employment (D1 IB for 3 months $15,407 – $25,000). Summer employment is contingent upon student enrollment and the needs of the College. Higher education could earn placement on a higher salary schedule.

Instruction. Provide competent clinical and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise. Demonstrates a thorough and accurate knowledge of their field or discipline.

Plans and organizes clinical/lab instruction in ways that maximize documented student learning.

Student Learning. Contribute to the evaluation of students in all classes according to institutional, divisional, departmental, and individual criteria. Incorporates meaningful student learning outcomes for courses/programs.

Evaluates student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning.
Returns student assignments in a timely manner.

Support of College Policies and Procedures. Performs other department activities to ensure efficient, high quality services are provided to WCC. Conducts clinical/lab activities as assigned in a multi-campus environment as needed.
Posts and maintains regular office hours to ensure accessibility to colleagues and to students for advisement and consultation.
Incorporates into clinical/lab activities course syllabi and approved course outlines for all assigned sections in accordance with program and divisional policies.
Maintains confidentiality of student information.
Substitutes for other clinical/lab instructors within field or discipline in case of an absence.
Exercises stewardship of College facilities and materials.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Participation in College, Division, and Program Activities. Performs other department activities to ensure efficient, high quality services are provided to WCC. Serves on college, divisional, and program committees as assigned.
Participates in meeting and events required by the college, division, and program administrators.
Responds in a timely fashion to information requests from college, division, and program administrators.
Supports both part-time and full-time colleagues.
Contributes to program and division curriculum development processes.
Participates in graduation ceremonies.
Provides attendance data as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Professional Development. Continue as competent instructor in the chosen specialty by seeking new knowledge, improving teaching skills, and updating professional competencies. Updates knowledge and skills in subject matter field and instructional abilities.
Remains current in teaching discipline by one or more of the following methods: a. attending workshops, continuing education programs, practicums, and academic courses; b. engaging in individual self-study; c. actively participating in professional organizations.
Sets professional goals for each rating period.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Adheres to all College and System policies and procedures Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing from a regionally accredited institution is required.
Current unencumbered licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama is required.
Three years’ experience in clinical practice is required.
Prior experience teaching is preferred. Experience incorporating multi-media instructional techniques into a curricula including instructional technology for web-based teaching and course management utilizing the Canvas platform is preferred.
Experience inspiring and facilitating learning with diverse student populations is preferred. Available positions are contingent upon enrollment and the instructional needs of the College. Applicants must travel at their own expense for interviews that are conducted in person.
