4826421 DoGreat Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring an adjunctinstructor of Surgical Technology in the Surgical Technology Department. The Instructor for Surgical Technology will be responsible for teaching, advising, and supporting students in the Health and Wellness department. This role involves a variety of academic and administrative duties related to the development, delivery, and evaluation of the Surgical Technology program.
Teach all courses (15-18 contact hours) as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction;
Be fully prepared with instructional plans for each class session and in accord with the stated objectives of the course;
Enforce academic policy and procedures at all times, and comply with all other institutional rules and regulations pertinent to classroom instruction and general employment;
Identify at risk students and provide tutoring and program plans to assist with success.

Provide guidance and academic support:

Participate in advising and registration activities each semester. Serve as educational advisor to assigned students as required and as otherwise requested or needed by individual students;
Become proficient in advising technologies including Colleague, Webadvisor, and Student Self Service.
Assist in the revision and development of course outlines, syllabi, curriculum plans, and other instructional documentation required to meet program objectives;
Assist In the development, implementation and evaluation of competency-based education and utilize available educational resources for the evaluation, improvement of instruction and the development of teaching materials;
Participate in program, departmental, divisional, and institutional meetings and other announced activities;
Maintain complete office and student records, as needed; process reports, forms, and all other required paperwork in a timely, efficient manner, checking for the accuracy, correctness, and completeness of all data;
Maintain posted office and on-campus hours sufficient to fulfill all contracted duties and individual professional obligations, as well as to meet the needs of the program, department, division, and College;
Take advantage of in-service training and other opportunities for continued professional development, including attendance at off-campus activities, as feasible, and generally staying abreast of developments in the field of instruction;
Oversees clinical training at area hospitals and surgery centers;
Participate in program, departmental, divisional, and instructional meetings and other announced activities;
Maintain proper communication and supportive relations at all times with all other units and branches of the division and the

College:

provide assistance to them in carrying out their respective functions;
Participate in activities pertaining to the Durham Early College of Health Sciences including (DECHS) including recruitment events, summer camps, and planning;
Prepare, manage, and facilitate program information sessions for area hospitals, high schools, and middle schools;
Advise hospital employees interested in the program;
Assist program director in managing apprenticeship programs;
Assume other necessary responsibilities and perform additional tasks as assigned by the program director and/or department dean in meeting the needs of the program, department, division, and the College. Minimum of an Associate’s Degree from an accredited Program. Current Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) certification

Work Experience:
