Position Summary:
The Faculty of the Campbell University Department of Nursing are integral to the actualization of program objectives and the provision of quality education to students. Faculty develop and implement the curriculum to promote the development of the knowledge, skills, and values deemed essential for safe, quality nursing care in a complex and changing environment. Campbell University will educate, in a Christian environment, a generalist nurse to practice in collaborative care settings with a focus on the needs of rural and underserved populations. Nursing faculty members are responsible to the Director of the School of Nursing and to the Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Fulfills faculty workload requirements through teaching, course-related advisement, and role as Course Instructor
Implementation of Skills Lab and integration of simulation technology within didactic and clinical curriculum
Evaluates theoretical components of students’ instruction (exams)
Serve as a role model and faculty advisor for students
Promotes excellence in education with evidence-based strategies
Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice
Assumes role of Course Director for non-clinical courses within the plan of study as necessary
Informs essential communication, monitors, and evaluates annually the clinical instructors and/or clinical preceptors utilized for student experiences
Promotes excellence in education with evidence based, active teaching strategies
Maintains satisfactory relationships with cooperating agencies. Seeks out and evaluates new clinical resources
Participates in Department of Nursing (BSN Curriculum, Admission, Progression and Graduation) and campus-wide and committees as assigned
This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity, and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University
Education/Experience:
Experience in a higher education or non-profit sector desired
Master’s Degree with nursing major required
Licensure as a North Carolina Registered Nurse
Preferred teaching experience with pre-licensure nursing students in an academic or healthcare setting
2 years of recent professional clinical nursing experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
Comprehensive computer skills, with the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology
Familiarity with/Knowledgeable of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, the Internet, and Blackboard.
Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with patients, faculty, staff, students, the public, and clinical staff
Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people
Exercise sound judgment in complex, new, and/or stressful situations
Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet strict competing deadlines
Adaptability, flexibility and a willingness to work in a changing environment
