JOB DEFINITION

To provide instruction to students through lecture, demonstration, laboratory exercises,clinical instruction, handouts, and responding to questions and testing.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from the Lead Nurse Aide Instructor/Program Coordinator, Program Director and Dean.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Functions:

Provide classroom, clinical, and laboratory instruction to studentsPrepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activitiesDevelop and prepare supplemental materials to enhance textbook lessons using the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Regulation (NC DPHSR) approved Nurse Aide I training curriculum and North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) approved Nurse Aide II training modulesDevelop and prepare tests to evaluate students; provide individual tutoring to students outside of the classroom as neededProvide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands on experience as appropriateDemonstrate competence regarding the handling of hazardous substances such as blood borne pathogens; annually undergo training and train students in such proceduresSupervise students in the lab and clinical settingParticipate in curriculum development, evaluation and change, attend faculty meetings as requiredMaintain accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintain other records and databases according to program needs or accreditation requirementsOversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching areaParticipate in all functions related to implementation of the programs systematic plan for evaluation

Assist the Nurse Aide Program Coordinator with Nurse Aide Program site equipment maintenance, organization of documentation and implementation of the Nurse Aide programParticipate in a variety of student related administrative activities including reviewing admission requirements, progress and qualifications for graduationStay abreast of new developments and changes in various academic fields; participate in staff development programs, workshops, seminars and other continuing education programs as appropriateAssess the relevancy and impact of various lessons; revise and improve lesson format; evaluate various textbooks and select books to be used for future classesAssist in the recruitment of studentsPerform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Per the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Health Service Regulation Health Care Personnel Education and Credentialing Section, the minimum competency and qualifications for faculty for a Nurse Aide Level I program shall include: Has a current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North CarolinaThe applicant has at least two (2) years (4000 hours) of experience as a Registered Nurse in the United States.

The applicant meets at least one of the following: Completion of a course in teaching adultsExperience in teaching adultsExperience in supervising nurse aides

Nurse Aide Level II:

Per the N.C. Board of Nursing the minimum competency and qualifications for faculty for a Nurse Aide Level II program shall include: Has a current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North CarolinaHave had at least two years of direct patient care experiences as a R.N.Have experience teaching adult learners.

Have experience supervising Level I and Level II Nurse Aides.
