Position Information
Job Title Adjunct Instructor, Nurse Aide (Ashe Campus & Alleghany Center)
Job Description This part-time instructor position teaches Nurse Aide courses in the Workforce Development and Community Education Division, reporting to the Director of Health Occupations and the Nurse Aide I Training Program Coordinator.
Note:
The location of this position is at Ashe Campus and Alleghany Center. The WCC Ashe Campus is located in West Jefferson, NC and the Alleghany Center is located in Sparta, NC>
Full Time or Part Time Part Time
Essential Duties Summary Job duties will include:
Prepare course materials including lectures and labs by using appropriate teaching techniques per the NC Nurse Aide I Training Program approved curriculum. Schedule clinical rotations for students ensuring students meet the clinical onboarding requirements. Conducts evaluations of student performance and assigns grades on the basis of such evaluations.
Maintains records of student attendance and grades according to college policy and procedure.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required to meet course objectives.
Required Qualifications 1. Registered Nurse with an unencumbered license.
2. Licensed to practice nursing in North Carolina.
3. Has at least two (2) years (4000 hours) of experience as a Registered Nurse in the United States.
4. Meets at least one (1) of the following:
completion of a course in teaching adults; or
experience in teaching adults; or
experience in supervising nurse aides.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
Experience in a community college setting.
Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems.
Physical Demands Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office or classroom setting with appropriate climate controls. Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required.

Utilizes memory for details and content of the discipline, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important.
