Position Description Advertised Job Summary The University of South Carolina Lancaster, a regional campus of the University of South Carolina located approximately thirty-five (35) miles south of Charlotte, NC invites applicants for an InstructorSimulation Coordinator. This is a full-time 12- month non-tenure track faculty position directly reporting to the Director of the BSN Collaborative Program in consultation with the Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs for USC Lancaster and is responsible for the oversight of the simulation program. This job is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and general operation of high technology patient simulators, lower technology task trainers, clinical equipment, and related multimedia peripherals used in the training of healthcare professionals from all specialties. Demonstrate and or teach technical aspects of operating the simulators and related equipment to faculty, staff, and others when appropriate. Assistcators with the development of customized simulation activities which enhance learning through the incorporation of appropriate simulation technologies. Assist with other simulation-related efforts such as grants, research, campus tours, and recruitment activities as designated.

Accountabilities:

Communicate in a positive, professional manner with co-workers, faculty instructors, students and other users of the simulation center. This includes both written and verbalmunications. Assist faculty and other staff in the operational aspects of simulation. Assist in identifying standard patients as needed and assists with scling, training, and oversight of simulated participant programs including ongoing quality improvement through the evaluation process. Assist with special projects or initiatives as required. Design, develop, implement, and evaluate scenarios andcational material in collaboration with faculty, staff, and other users of the simulation center. Provide faculty instructors with instructional tools, technical or administrative support to carry out clinical lab and simulation sessions. This includes setting up clinical lab equipmentsupplies, simulators, the rooms, and appropriate audio-videoponents for each session and preparingcational material for the activity as directed. Understand the use and operation of different simulator technologies ranging from partial task trainers to high fidelity patient simulators to virtual reality simulators. Interface with the equipment manufacturers regarding equipment troubleshooting and systems problems as well as periodic upgrades; maintain record of repairs. Perform all required equipment maintenance and troubleshooting while actively maintaining proficiency in existing and emerging technologies including basic theory, design, and implementation. Perform and synthesize literature searches, analyze and summarize relevant material, and maintain reference library of simulation articles. Participate in technical training as necessary; attend conferences to stay current with simulation technologies andcational modalities. Generate innovative approaches for technology improvement and integration into healthcarecation. Maintain an inventory of simulation equipment and resources, order supplies annually and as needed, perform all maintenance on simulation equipment. Oversee and review the simulation budget and simulation policies and prores, identify and analyze simulation program metrics, perform ongoing simulation program evaluation, and submit an annual report inclusive of oue data measurement and future growth. Work with healthcare partners including the USC College of Nursing, MUSC Lancaster Health, and Mid-Carolina AHEC to assure best practice simulation approaches and consistent simulation and clinical experiences for students in partnership programs to achieve the goal of a certified simulation site in collaboration with the USC CON simulation center. Teach approved lower division (LANU, NURS, CLAS) courses as needed (minimum of 4 per academic year). Required Education and Experience A minimum of a master’s degree in nursing is required. Possessing an unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Must be BSLACLS certified instructor within one (1) year of employment. At least two (2) years of experience working in a simulation program. Knowledge of simulation equipment and software is required. Applicants must be a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or have plans to take the CHSE exam within two (2) years of employment. Applicants must be able to perform all duties of a clinical instructor in various settings including, but not limited to, physical requirements. In lieu of experience andorcational requirements indicated above the followingbination ofcation, training, andor experience will be considered an equivalent substitution: such as abination ofcation and clinical experience, including clinical experience in a military setting.
