Job Summary/Basic Function Come Join Our Team at Millersville University!
The Wehrheim School of Nursing, housed within the College of Science and Technology and home to CNEA-accredited programs, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning January 2026.

Primary Responsibilities:

Teach in the RN to BSN, MSN, and DNP programs (delivered both online and in-person at Millersville University and off-site locations).
Advise undergraduate and graduate students.
Supervise graduate students in clinical settings.
Engage in scholarly or creative work.
Participate in departmental and university service.
Additional responsibilities may include contributions to accreditation processes, outcomes assessment, and curriculum development, based on the evolving needs of the School.

Rank and Salary:

Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and aligned with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Millersville University Promotion Statement.
To be considered for appointment at the Associate Professor rank, candidates must have:
An earned doctorate.
A minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience (or equivalent).
A record of scholarship appropriate to the rank.

Duties and Responsibilities

EFFECTIVE TEACHING AND PERFORMANCE OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Tenure Track faculty are responsible for teaching across all levels of curriculum including RN to BSN, master’s, and doctoral level. The successful candidate will teach students both in assigned courses and outside-the-classroom settings (e.g., student research, service learning, field activities and placements), advise students, and carry out other assigned professional responsibilities in support of student learning and success. The academic-year workload for full-time faculty is 24 workload hours and faculty must hold a minimum of five office hours per week on no fewer than three different days.
Candidates must be willing to teach day, evening and/or weekend classes and conduct classes on and off the Millersville campus through multifaceted teaching strategies for face-to-face classroom delivery and/or web-enhanced or online formats. Actual assignments will depend upon department needs.
Faculty are expected to hold regular office hours as well as be able to teach in a variety of delivery modalities.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise graduate students in clinical practicum, supervise graduate assistants; and serve as faculty advisor for doctoral scholarly projects. Other reasonable duties assigned within the faculty member’s field of competence. Additionally, faculty are expected to actively engage in curricular development and evaluation as well as co-curricular, assessment, and accreditation activities.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Wehrheim School of Nursing, in the College of Science and Technology, has the following CNEA

  • accredited programs:
RN-BSN, MSN

with tracks in Family/Individual Across the Lifespan Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Education, Nursing Leadership, School Nursing, and Nursing Informatics, post-MSN Certificates in all MSN track specialties, and DNP programs. The programs are taught on-line and face-to-face at both on-site and off-site locations. Millersville University is a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.
Required Qualifications Earned doctorate.
3 years of teaching experience.
Currently holds unencumbered PA RN license (or be eligible for).
Currently hold unencumbered PA CRNP license (or be eligible for).
Evidence of ability to successfully teach diverse student populations.
Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Successful interview.
Successful teaching demonstration.
Successful completion of three background checks.
Preferred Qualifications Family/Individual Across the Lifespan Nurse Practitioner.
Recent online teaching experience.
Prior experience with supervising FNP students in the clinical setting.
Prior college-level teaching experience.
Essential Functions Work is normally performed in a typical interior/classroom environment.
Teach courses face-to-face at the higher education level using lectures, demonstrations, class discussion, using online tools and/or equipment and/or other appropriate tools appropriate modes of education delivery.
Speak in a clear voice and hear spoken words.
Read and write the written word and higher-level statistics/mathematics.
Manage classroom activities.
Record and calculate grades, prepare course outline and syllabus, develop course and lesson plans, engage in the selection of appropriate textbooks and other teaching aids necessary to the delivery of instruction.
Use computer for email, obtain information on websites, prepare class documents, grade papers, submit final grades online and other duties related to teaching and advising students and serving the department, college, university and community.
No or very limited exposure to physical risks.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
