Provides direct and comprehensive nursing care to surgical patientswithin an acute care hospital setting Utilizing the nursingprocess, the RN-Surgery assesses, plans, implements, and evaluatespatient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team toachieve optimal outcomes This role supports surgical interventionsacross all age groups and ensures patient safety, comfort, andeducation throughout the perioperative process Essential FunctionsDelivers patient-centered nursing care based on establishedstandards of care and the nursing process Administers medicationsand treatments as prescribed and in accordance with policyDocuments all aspects of patient care clearly and accuratelyMonitors, evaluates, and communicates patient condition tohealthcare team, patient, and family Coordinates and collaborateswith surgical and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patientcare Participates in patient transfer, discharge, and referrals asneeded Educates patients and families on surgical procedures,recovery expectations, and post-operative care Advocates for thephysical and emotional well-being of patients throughout thesurgical experience Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/ExpectationsDemonstrated critical thinking, clinical judgment, anddecision-making skills Ability to function effectively inhigh-stress, fast-paced environments Effective communication andinterpersonal skills with patients, families, and team membersCompetency in the use of electronic medical records (EMR) and otherhealthcare technologies Commitment to continuous learning andprofessional development Ability to maintain patientconfidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines Physical abilityto perform required duties, including lifting, bending, standing,and walking for extended periods Willingness to comply with allorganizational and departmental policies and procedures Attendsrequired staff meetings and maintains required certifications andcompetencies Qualifications Education Graduate of an accreditedSchool of Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferredLicenses/Certifications Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN)license in the state of practice Basic Life Support (BLS)certification (required within time frame specified in facilitypolicy) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification(required within time frame specified in facility policy) PediatricAdvanced Life Support (PALS) certification (required withintimeframe specified in facility policy) Experience Minimum of oneyear of clinical nursing experience preferred Previousperioperative or surgical services experience stronglypreferred
