Position Summary The RN Charge is primarily responsible for representing the department on their assigned shifts, communicating administrative concerns and implementing hospital policy. They may assist the Administration Supervisor or Nurse Manager with staffing and the allocation of staff to meet workload demands, coordinate placement of float staff, collaborate with Directors and Nurse Managers/Unit Managers on operational issues, and serve as a resource to internal and external customers. Functions as a mediator between internal departments to facilitate patient care by resolving issues/problems. Responsibilities Supervise nursing staff and coordinate patient care activities. Conduct triage assessments to prioritize patient needs effectively. Administer tube feeding and manage patients’ nutritional needs as required. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for all patients. Provide urgent care services and respond to emergency situations promptly. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive case management plans. Educate patients and families on treatment plans and health management strategies. Requirements Registered Nurse (RN) license required; BSN preferred. Proven experience in a charge nurse or leadership role within a healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of triage protocols and urgent care procedures. Experience with case management and outpatient services is advantageous. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and staff. Education Current Alabama RN license. BSN preferred. Must complete Hospital-based ACLS and PALS within one year of employment.
