POSITION SUMMARY
The Nurse Manager (NM), for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at East Alabama Medical Center, is a registered nurse with demonstrated expertise in critical care nursing, leadership and management skills. The NM, demonstrating a high degree of professionalism, directs the planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care programs for patient populations assigned to her (his) area. The UM works collaboratively with other patient care areas, interdisciplinary teams, and support staff to optimize clinical and operational outcomes for ICU patients. The UM is responsible for creating an environment conducive to achieving quality outcomes, effective use of resources and retention of quality staff. She (he) is responsible for the management of resources, human and fiscal. Ultimately, the UM has administrative and operational responsibility for the department, including oversight and management of; day to day operations, cost containment, human and financial resources, quality of care and clinical outcomes, employee engagement and satisfaction, and patient satisfaction.
