Job Description:
Job Purpose The purpose of the Physician Support Manager is to manage and oversee the nursing staff of the clinic. The nurse administrator must also fill in when necessary, as well as ensure that the infusion department is running smoothly. Essential Job Functions Assure employee adherence to the company handbook. Conduct employee interviews and orient new staff to the department. Collaborate on projects/tasks with other departments as needed. Create and maintain employee schedules for all nurses, medical assistants, and vitals techs. Supervise and manage the departmental budget. Organize and conduct staff meetings for all locations. Collaborate with other departments to organize and prepare for Nurse’s Week events. Conduct routine performance evaluations as needed and at least annually. Observe and discipline employees for substandard performance and policy noncompliance. Maintain standards for job performance. Work with department managers and employees to implement, correct, or change training and orientation procedures. Evaluate and correct departmental procedures and policies in order to stay up to date with changing regulations. Adopt and implement innovative nursing practices to improve the company. Supervise APP, including nurses, medical assistants, vitals techs, and Nurse Navigation. Consult with physicians and extenders to identify and evaluate any potential problems within the office. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, medical laws, and ethical standards. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have strong attention to detail. Must be able to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner. Must be able to manage employees effectively and efficiently. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written Education/Experience Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Oncology Nursing certification preferred. Must be Licensed Registered Nurse in Alabama Must be BLS certified. Must have at least (1) year previous leadership/management experience. Must have at least (2) years oncology experience. Working conditions This position works in the nursing/patient care department of a busy oncology/hematology clinic. Direct patient contact may occur occasionally but is not a requirement. This position works in a busy, fast-paced environment with a moderate noise level. Physical requirements This position requires the employee be able to stand and walk for up to eight hours a day on some days, as well as be able to sit at a computer for up to eight hours a day on some days, depending on the tasks that need to be finished.
