About the Opportunity The Unit Manager should be an energetic, forward-thinking individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image. Strategic vision, sound clinical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, excellent communication skills, and strong focus are required. Key to this position is a blend of excellent organization skills and self-direction while promoting a hospitality and team-oriented culture. This person will be able to relate to people at all levels and be a seasoned negotiator with experience in all aspects of Nursing and Nursing Protocols. A very positive, courteous, friendly, and warm disposition is essential to this vital role. In this position, the Unit Manager will often interact with Staff Members, Residents and their families, other department managers, vendors, and other professionals and should therefore be able to communicate effectively. The Unit Manager should develop a thorough understanding of the health care community as a whole as well as all the vital components within the scope of their responsibilities.
What will you do:
Explains procedures and treatments to residents and families to gain cooperation, understanding and alleviate stress and apprehension Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives that improve the customer experience enhance work flow, and/or improve the work environment. Inform DON, Medical Director and the Infection Control committee of problems and progress in preventing and controlling infections. • Advise facility personnel of isolation policy for disease specific precautions for residents with infection. Provide new personnel orientation and skills training along with routine facility rounds and skills training to verify techniques and procedures are performed in accordance with standards set by the QA committee according to the Infection Control Policy and Procedure Manual Develop programs regarding infection control and prevention. Coordinate the development and/or implementation of infection control measures. Attend the Infection Control Committee/QA Committee meetings and coordinate the implementation of committee recommendations. Coordinates, monitors, and supervises the Restorative Program while instilling the Restorative philosophy to staff members. Provides documentation as required. Works with each department to ensure our residents receive proper care in a timely manner. Administers prescribed medications and treatments as needed Maintains standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the facility and Nursing Department. Follows all local, state and federal rules and regulations. Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of resident Observes patient’s conditions and reaction to drugs, treatments and significant incidents Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures and protocol
