Summary:
Supervise sterile processing operations, ensuring staffing, infection control compliance (AAMI, AORN, CDC, OSHA), and adherence to hospital policies. Oversee quality checks, recordkeeping, inventory management, and equipment maintenance. Train and educate staff, collaborate with surgical teams, and participate in audits (Joint Commission, CMS). Drive process improvements and cost-saving initiatives with strong leadership, technical expertise, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and instrument tracking systems.
Responsibilities:
Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels. Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints.
Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching and mentoring to staff. Assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions. Supervises the procurement, maintenance and moving of equipment and supplies in surgical suites.
Ensures adherence to procedure, including but not limited to following standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Assesses quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs. Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures and protocols.
Transfers patients from Nursing Units to OR and from PACU to the Nursing Units/Discharge.
Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staff assignments who are responsible for cleaning Operating Room (OR), surgical suites and other assigned areas daily, including collecting and removing trash, changing linens and sanitizing all surfaces to plan and accomplish department goals.
