Nurse Manager Summary:
The Nurse Manager is a strategic leader responsible for the comprehensive planning, organization, and direction of Nursing/Patient Care Services. The Nurse Manager ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care, maintaining compliance with all applicable standards, regulations, and laws. This role encompasses leadership in quality improvement, staff competency, efficient departmental operations, and collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.
Essential Functions:
Strategic Leadership:
Promotes and embodies the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Develops and implements strategic plans for Nursing/Patient Care Services to achieve organizational goals. Participates in policy decisions impacting hospital-wide Nursing/Patient Care Services.
Operational Management:
Organizes, directs, and administers Nursing/Patient Care Services to ensure optimal patient care delivery. Maintains efficient and effective departmental operations, ensuring compliance with all state, federal, and local regulations, laws, standards, and protocols. Plans and coordinates with the CEO and Materials Manager for supplies and equipment, ensuring cost-effective resource utilization. Manages departmental budgets and cost controls to maximize efficiency. Participates in Administrator on-call rotation with the CEO and senior administrative leaders.
Quality and Performance Improvement:
Ensures compliance with patient quality standards and leads initiatives to enhance patient care. Maintains and directs performance improvement activities within the department. Participates in organization-wide Quality Initiative activities. Maintains continuous quality assessment and improvement analysis and evaluation of patient care delivery. Communicates with the Director of Quality and Infection Control regarding activities/issues within Nursing/Patient Care Services. Responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of performance improvement.
Staff Management and Development:
Assures competency of all nursing personnel through effective training, education, and evaluation. Directs training and instruction for the entire nursing department, including students. Supports and develops Nursing/Patient Care Services in the coordination of employee selection, work assignments, performance evaluations, and staff development. Recommends, supports, and participates in education services, programs of education, and training, 1 including orientation of new employees.
