JOB SUMMARY
Assists in maintaining a positive physical, social, and psychological environment in accordance with resident’s needs and facility philosophy. Responsible to the Director of Nursing for the planning, directing, supervision and delivery of resident care. Responsible for maintaining accurate and complete medical records on each resident.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide nursing care according to physicians’ orders and in conformance with organized nursing practice, established standards; and administrative policies. Assist with evaluation of the nursing process on the unit, and provide input regarding needed or desired changes. Supervise daily functions of the nursing unit, from employee supervision to delivery of resident care. Assist in the training, supervision, and ongoing inservice education of nursing service personnel. Assist in the performance evaluation of nursing personnel. Maintain documentation, which accurately and completely records data pertaining to resident’s care, condition and treatment. Participates as a member in the interdisciplinary resident care conferences in developing a total plan of care, and in communicating that plan to nursing staff caring for the resident. Protect the resident, his privacy and his property. Attend inservice and continuing education programs to improve knowledge and skills. Administer personal hygienic, preventative, therapeutic and rehabilitative services to residents and assist in the coordination of nursing care with care rendered by other disciplines. Provide a daily report to the Director of Health Care Services to assure communication regarding facility functions, personnel performance, and resident condition. Confer with the Director of Health Care Services, as necessary, to provide input regarding resident care needs, staffing requirements, and nursing supply needs for the units. Make rounds with physicians, assist in examination and/or treatment of residents and carry out orders. Administer medications, perform procedures and treatments, and provide resident care when necessary. Assume charge responsibility for a given group of residents. Notify, when necessary, the attending physician and resident’s responsible party in the event of a change in the resident’s condition. Attend monthly staff meetings and serve on committees as appointed. Administer first aid when needed. Provide input into the annual budgeting process and be responsible for delivery of cost-effective care.
