RN Med Surg Nurse Job Description As an RN Med Surg Nurse, you will organize and manage patient care functions on an ongoing basis. You will work to enhance patient outcomes through effective management of human resources, staff education, and monitoring processes for continuous improvement. You will serve as a role model for excellence in quality care, customer satisfaction, and quality improvement, interacting with medical staff both informally and formally to improve patient outcomes. Demonstrating critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership, you will anticipate and plan for patient care, while being responsible and accountable for the planning, directing, and provision of nursing care to patients. Responsibilities Organize and manage patient care functions. Enhance patient outcomes through human resource management and staff education. Monitor processes for continuous improvement. Serve as a role model for excellence in quality care and customer satisfaction. Interact with medical staff to improve patient outcomes. Demonstrate critical thinking skills and scientific judgment. Plan and direct nursing care according to the Florida Nurse Practice Act and physician’s orders. Essential Skills Cardiac telemetry expertise. Proficiency in medical chart review. Current Florida license as Registered Nurse or Recognized Compact Licensure. Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Minimum of 2 years experience as Charge Nurse/CNC/Nurse Manager in an acute care setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Must obtain BLS certification within 30 days of employment start date. Must obtain ACLS certification within 30 days of employment start date. Work Environment You will work in a 417-bed hospital, where managers report to the Director of Nursing. The unit has CNCs to assist with leadership duties. This position is for the night shift. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80121.60 – $111696.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
