Nurse managers are nurse leaders with 24 hour accountability andresponsibility for a direct care unit or units. They provide thevital link between the administrative strategic plan and the pointof care. The nurse manager is responsible for creating safe,healthy environments that support the work of the health care teamand contribute to patient engagement. The role is influential increating a professional environment and fostering a culture whereinterdisciplinary team members are able to contribute to optimalpatient outcomes and grow professionally. Human Resources Develops staffing matrices that facilitate safe, quality patientcare using practice standards and stewarding resources. Evaluates staffing patterns and unit demands. Match competency andpatient acuity. Demonstrates an understanding of labor laws and organizationalpolicies related to human resources. Recruits, interviews, hires, and onboards new associates. Conducts associate evaluations, assist with goal setting, and whennecessary initiates corrective action Facilitates associate education, ensure competency validation, andpromote professional development. Retention of associates Promotes cultural competence and an environment that embracesdiversity. Clinical Practice Knowledge Demonstrates a growing knowledge of the patient populations andstandards of care delivery in which the unit(s) serve. Performance Improvement Facilitates performance improvement by identifying key performanceindicators, establishing data collection methodology, evaluatesdata, and responds to findings with the development of actionplans. Routinely assesses patient satisfaction and develops strategies toimprove the patient experience. Monitors and reports patient and associate safety events.

Participates in root cause analysis, promotes evidence basedpractice changes, and manages incident reporting Maintains regulatory and survey readiness. Monitors and promotes workplace safety. Strategy Facilitates and manages change. Demonstrates project management skills. Participates in emergency response planning and preparation. Technology Demonstrates an in depth understanding of the EHR and technologyused to deliver and document patient care. Considers the integration of technology to improve caredelivery. Finance Responsible for the daily operations of one or more units Demonstrates an understanding of the operational and capital budgetprocess. Promotes stewardship of resources and working within financialtargets Monitors budget variances providing rationale and developing actionplans. Minimum Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a bachelor’s ofscience degree in nursing (BSN). Current license to practice in the state of assigned position (orability to obtain license) Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within two years of hire Leadership experience

  • leading committees, councils, orprofessional organizations
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) Formal leadership experience as a charge nurse, supervisor Experience with performance improvement processes/tools (e.g. HighReliability Organization, Lean, IHI)

Physical Requirements Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels,assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment andsupplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, andvisitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well ashear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issuesquickly and accurately, particularly during emergencysituations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex anddelicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includesfrequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care,accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transferpatients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies andequipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to andincluding heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients andobtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includespushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavyitems. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full ofequipment, power cords on the floor, etc.) May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extendedperiod of time.

Expected to drive a vehicle whichrequires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, andother vehicles.
