PURPOSE AND SCOPE

Ensure the provision of quality patient careto all hospitalized patients in the most efficient manner inaccordance with company policy. Provides direct supervision andcoordination of inpatient staff. Responsible for high volumemonthly treatments. Utilizes the FMC mission, core values andcustomer service philosophy to ensure quality service whilemaintaining a high level of efficiency management.

PRINCIPAL DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages the tactical execution of short-and long-term objectives through the coordination of activitieswith a direct responsibility for results, including costs, methods,and staffing.

Monitors costs/spending in all areas includingmedical supply inventory, personnel and accounts payable.

Determines innovative ways to reduce costs and maintain quality.

  • Ensures proper staffing and operations at all contractedfacilities. Ensures efficient staff/ patient scheduling andefficient staffing utilization following company policy whilemaintaining a safe environment.
  • Provides leadership, coaching anddevelopment plans for all direct reports to maintain an engaged andproductive workforce; partnering with Human Resources on employeematters.
  • Acts as an advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedulesand/or resolve technical problems. Responsible for hiring, coachingand counseling employees, including performance reviews,development, disciplinary action and terminations.
  • Technicallyproficient in the specific department and knowledge of industrypractice and business principles. Works on issues of diverse scopewhere analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of avariety of factors, including an understanding of current businesstrends. Reviews profit and loss statements for greaterunderstanding of specific department performance.
  • Responsible forAcute Care Electronic System (ACES) include the following:
  • Takesinitiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regardingcustomer service issues with all customers in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with contracted facility representatives to maintain astate of survey readiness for internal and external agency surveys.

Works with contracted facility (ies) to resolve specific departmentissues as suggested/directed as a result of a survey.

  • Maintainsand prepares QAI data and presentations.

Participates and presentsat meetings with internal and external representatives, oftenleading a collaborative effort among members of a project team.

Assures provision of facility specific QAI information asappropriate.

  • Interacts with internal departments and externalcustomers; particularly in problem resolution and acting as theindustry expert on behalf of the customer.
  • Ensures compliancewith hospital regulations and participates in surveys conducted byTJC, CMS, OSHA and other agencies.
  • Ensures a proper orientationand training program for all clinical and technical staff. Ensuresthat continuing in-services are provided to all clinical andtechnical staff. Maintain documentation of all training.
  • Conductsand documents acute staff meetings on a regular basis.
  • Ensuresprovision of dialysis and related services such as hemoperfusion,apheresis, continuous renal replacement therapies, peritonealdialysis, and UF complete if contracted to do so.
  • Ensures thattreatment information is documented appropriately by staffperforming treatments and oversees billing for services performedis timely and accurate.
  • If appropriately licensed, performstreatments as necessary to assist in times of high census, staffingshortages, and/or to assist with managing staffing costs asappropriate.
  • Confers routinely with Technical Program Manager andTechnical Operations Manager to ensure preventative maintenanceprogram for routine machine maintenance, to ensure the timelyrepair of disabled machines, to coordinate infection controlmeasures, routine culturing, water testing, logging of results,transportation of equipment and supplies and communicate technicalinformation to the staff.
  • Ensures all acute treatments areperformed in contracted hospitals according to the establishedpolicies and procedures and in compliance with all applicableregulatory requirements.
  • Ensures efficient utilization ofsupplies and equipment.
  • Assists with various projects asassigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Availability for night and weekend calls/troubleshooting may benecessary to oversee issues as they arise with management of a24/7/365 service.
  • Day to day work includes desk and personalcomputer work and interaction with patients, facility staff andphysicians.
  • The position requires travel between assignedfacilities and various locations within the community. Travel toregional, Business Unit and Corporate meetings may be required.
  • The work environment is characteristic of a health care facilitywith air temperature control and moderate noise levels.

Couldpossibly be exposed to infectious and contagiousdiseases/materials.

SUPERVISION
  • May be responsible for thedirect supervision of various levels of inpatient staff asdesignated by region.
EDUCATION AND REQUIRED CREDENTIALS

:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (RN); Advanced degreedesirable
  • Current state licensure as applicable
EXPERIENCE ANDSKILLS

:

  • 3-5 years’ related experience.
  • 3 years’ supervisory orproject/program management experience preferred.
