Department/Unit SummaryThe Emergency Department Charge Nurse (RN) supervises and mentorsnursing and support staff during assigned shift, determinesstaffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staffabilities, census, patient acuity and work/patient flow, providesdirect patient care as needed, floats between staff to assist withproblem-solving. The Charge RN may take patient assignments to meetstaffing needs, evaluates the effectiveness of patient care andidentifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes,responds to complaints about patient care and related services, andmanages through established channels. Performs role-specific dutiesas assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions ordischarges, and coordinating transfers. Ensures staff has necessaryequipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care.
Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinicalprotocols. Creates and fosters an environment that encouragesprofessional growth. 21 Beds Level IV Trauma Center 4:1 Ratio 12Hour Shifts How you’ll contribute You’ll make an impact byutilizing your specialized plan-of-care intervention and serving asa patient-care innovator.
