Acts as a provider and manager ofcare at the point of care to individuals and cohorts of patientswithin a unit. Designs, implements, and evaluates nursinginterventions by coordinating, delegating and supervising the careprovided by the healthcare team, including licensed nurses, patientcare technicians and other health professionals and facilitateseffective and efficient discharge planning.

CertificationsRequired

  • Current registered nurse (RN)license in state of practice.

Basic Life Support (BLS) from theAmerican Heart Association.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities(KSAs) Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-basedapplications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and abilityto present information clearly and professionally to varying levelsof individuals throughout the patient care process. Strong conflict resolution skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to move throughout the department, the hospital, andbetween off-campus sites.

Job Duties Promotes the utilization of nursing protocols/practiceguidelines based on existing evidence and supports the conduct ofnursing research in accordance with guidelines. Organizes, plans, directs, provides and coordinates patientcare within the unit. Manages conflict appropriately on shift assigned and reportsissues to the unit leadership if further action/follow up isneeded. Acts as facilitator by meeting the needs of staff whilealigning self with the strategic direction set by the unitleadership. Assists leadership team in identifyingcost-containment/reduction strategies. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, includingbut not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction tothe patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to beperformed, requesting permissions and communication style. Performs other related duties as required.
