• EssentialJob Functions:

• Supervise nursing care in accordance with rules, regulations &guidelines governing long-term care.
• Ensure all nursing personnelassigned to you comply with written policies and procedures establishedby this organization.
• Ensure that all nursing personnel comply withprocedures set forth by the organization.
• Assure the implementation ofresident care plans.
• Conduct assessments and care plans appropriatefor residents admitted to the facility.
• Communicate pertinentinformation and interpret facility policies to residents, staff,families and visitors.
• Communicate effectively will all disciplines.
• Keep DON informed of information of any changes in resident condition.
• Review, investigate and document properly all incidents/accidents.
• Coordinate orientation for new nursing staff.
• Implement progressivediscipline when appropriate.
• Evaluate emergency situations and takeappropriate action.
• Participate in facility surveys made by authorizedagencies.
• Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
• Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports,evaluations, charting, etc., as necessary.
• Complete and file requiredrecord keeping forms/charts upon the resident’s admission, transfer,and or discharge.
• Receive phone orders from physicians and record onthe Physician’s Order Form.
• Chart all reports of accidents/incidentsinvolving residents. Follow established procedures.
• Prepare andadminister medications as ordered by the physician.
• Verify theidentity of the resident before administering themedication/treatment.
• Ensure adequate medications, supplies, andequipment are available. Report needs to DON.
• Ensure narcotic recordsare accurate for your shift.
• Notify DON of all drug and narcoticdiscrepancies.
• Performs all job responsibilities in accordance withsafety and infection control policies and procedures, including thoroughhand washing, use of disposable gloves where indicated and properdisposal of soiled materials.
• Follow established policies concerningexposure to blood/body fluids.
• Attend and participate in mandatory,and scheduled training and educational classes to maintain currentcertification as a Nursing Assistant.

• Qualifications
• Graduate of accredited nursingprogram
• Current Massachusetts nursing license as an RN
• Previousnursing experience in a supervisory role preferred
