• Full Time Weekend Requirement/Rotation every 4th week BSN Required 2 plus years of formal Nursing Supervisor experience needed We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to lead a team of about 30 FTEs on our General Medicine Unit 4100.

This is a fast paced unit that cares for patients with a wide range of complex medical conditions. This unit receives all direct admits from the ER. This role is ideal for a compassionate, collaborative and strategic nursing leader dedicated to advancing patient care, supporting team development and driving operational excellence. The Nurse Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to: Team management such as hiring, training, evaluating performance; Productivity and department goals; Developing and adhering to to departmental budgets; Patient care and compliance. Overview Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The campus features a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path that winds through the grounds and connects to Millennium Park. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Responsible for the operational and clinical management of a designated patient care unit(s) on a 24 hour basis. Oversees a span of control and financial responsibility of > 40 FTEs supervised + > $1.5 million in total expenses OR > 24 FTEs supervised + > $3.5 million in total expenses. Responsibilities Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership. Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals. Directs the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care governed by evidence based clinical and management practice. Ensures team compliance with departmental policies, regulatory requirements and professional standards; keeps policies and procedures up-to-date and participates in revisions as needed. Promotes, and is accountable for customer satisfaction, process indicators, quality improvement plans and outcomes in work unit. Researches, evaluates, selects and implements systems which improve efficiency of work unit operations. Supports and assists the growth of existing or new business/programs.
