This role is responsible for managing schedules, payroll, and ensuring the readiness of transport operations, including equipment, supplies, and staffing. The position involves patient care in various settings, compliance with hospital policies and regulations, and community outreach representation. Additionally, the role collaborates with leadership on training initiatives and may require flexible scheduling or work at different locations as needed. Provides leadership and management for clinical (nursing, respiratory, paramedic) personnel within the transport team. Manages all clinical functions and operations of the assigned area or units. Ensures efficient and effective delivery of clinical patient care and services and ensures compliance with administrative, regulatory and clinical policies and procedures. To perform job duties in accordance with the medical center’s purpose.

Education & ExperienceEducation and Experience Required:

 Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and five (5) years of experience two (2) in a leadership role and with three (3) years in neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, and/or pediatric emergency department experience. 

Additional Requirements:

 Weight may not exceed 225 pounds when fully clothed. 

Certifications, Licenses, or Registration Required:

 Valid RN license. Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required post-hire within 90 days 

Preferred Qualifications:

 Transport experience is strongly preferred

 Knowledge of air and ground transport operations, patient assessment, and emergency response. Understanding of hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards, with attention to accurate record-keeping. Ability to ov rsee equipment, supplies, scheduling, payroll, and base readiness. Strong interpersonal skills related to community outreach, staff coordination, and teamwork with leadership and educators. Ability to address operational challenges, staffing issues, and unexpected schedule changes effectively. Knowledge and understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures, verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, detail oriented, analytical and conceptual skills, leadership and management skills, and project management skills including the ability to effectively manage resources. 

Responsibilities:

 Manages schedules and payroll.

Ensures proper function and inventory of communication equipment, medical transport equipment, and supplies; reports equipment failures.

Performs community outreach functions and represents base/program at assigned meetings.

Evaluates, plans, provides, and documents care for patients in the disaster, transport (air/ground), and/or out-of-hospital environment.

Ensures compliance of patient transport and all base operations with hospital policies, state and federal laws/regulations, and accreditation standards; prepares and maintains applicable reports and documentation.

Ensures overall readiness of the base and transport operations by ordering supplies, scheduling, maintaining inventory, confirming checklists are complete, addressing staffing issues, and reporting issues beyond the base level to program leadership; performs other duties as necessary or assigned to ensure proper functioning of assigned base or program.

Collaborates with educator/leadership to ensure base-level or assist in program-wide education, training, check-offs, and orientation.

Provides physical and psychological comfort to patients; monitors patient condition during transport and adverse reactions to drugs or treatment.

 Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, occasional exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travel to offsite locations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, occasional work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, occasional sitting, occasional standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking. (Occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more). Works unusual hours, irregular shifts, or at different locations on short notice as needed. Must be able to lift a patient weighing 250 pounds onto a stretcher or infant in incubator, carry a minimum of 50 feet and load into an aircraft or ground ambulance (with the help of another provider).
