Position Summary:

The Charge RNprovides nursing leadership for the day shift in the EmergencyRoom.

• Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff duringassigned shift.
• Determines staffing level and assignments basedon staff availability, staff abilities, census, patient acuity andwork/patient flow.
• Provides direct patient care as needed.
• Floats between staff to assist with problem-solving.
• May takepatient assignments to meet staffing needs.
• Evaluates theeffectiveness of patient care and identifies any issues that affectdesired patient outcomes.
• Responds to complaints about patientcare and related services, and manages through establishedchannels.
• Performs role-specific duties as assigned, includingentering orders, performing admissions or discharges, andcoordinating transfers.
• Ensures staff has necessary equipment andsupplies to provide safe, quality patient care.
• Integratesevidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

• Associate’s degreerequired
• BSN degree preferred

Certifications:

• Basic LifeSupport (BLS) required
• ACLS and PALS required within 6 months ofhire

License:

• Registered Nurse licensed to work in the state ofKentucky
