The Resident CareDirector (RCD) serves as the nursing clinical leader for thecommunity and is responsible to lead and manage the health andwellness along with coordination of care and services to residentswithin the community. Responsible for oversight and implementationof all Care programs, regulatory compliance, recruiting, andperformance management.
RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

The unique responsibilities for this roleinclude but are not limited to the essential functions listed asfollows: Managing Health and Wellness Provide strategic leadershipfor resident care in the community by managing, directing, andmonitoring the nursing team as applicable by State/Provincial law,to promote the health and wellness of the resident population.
Provide clinical care through the direct application of the nursingprocess; perform and document resident assessments and progressnotes, evaluate changes in care needs, complete IndividualizedService Plans (ISP), provide or delegate hands-on clinical care asindicated by the plan of care, and evaluate resident outcomes.
Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other clinicalproviders to coordinate care and services for the residents. Serveas the CLIA Director as applicable for the community and accordingto the federal and provincial requirements. Partner withNeighborhood Coordinators to promote an integrated andcollaborative approach to wellness operations and resident care.
Collaborate with Sales partners to determine community capabilityand assess potential residents’ appropriateness for move-in. Seekdirection from a Registered Nurse as needed in accordance withprovincial regulations and nurse practice acts. MedicationManagement Provide strategic leadership for resident care in thecommunity by managing, directing, and monitoring the medicationcare managers, as applicable by State/Provincial law, to promotethe health and wellness of the resident population. Provideoversight of the community medication management program to promoteresident safety in the medication use process including onboarding,training, and performance reviews. Provide clinical training andeducation, as needed, to nurses, medication care managers, caremanagers, and others who provide resident care. Perform skillevaluation to assure clinical capability of care team members.
Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance Track, trend, andreport clinical quality data to identify risk. Participate activelyas a member of the community Quality Assurance and PerformanceImprovement committee. Lead clinical quality and processimprovement initiatives within the community to mitigate risk andimprove resident care outcomes. Recruit, hire, and train clinicalteam members and is responsible for performance management,evaluations, and engagement. Complete direct report team memberstaffing and scheduling according to operational and budgetaryguidelines. Partner with the community leadership team to promoteresident safety and compliance with Risk Managementnational/provincial regulations pertaining to occupational healthand safety requirements. Serve as the ICC and CLIA Director asapplicable for the community. Responsible for infection controlprogramming, including delegation of infection controlpreventionist, as per provincial requirements. Assure compliancewith all Federal, State/Provincial, board of nursing, and otherapplicable regulations. Financial Management Manage the departmentbudget to include labor/labour and other expenses and understandits impact on the community’s bottom line. Processes and submitmonthly expenses and budget data in a timely manner, per Sunrisepolicies and internal business controls. Understand the internalcosts associated with all Sunrise resident care programs. Training,Leadership and Team Member Development Partner with the RegionalDirector of Resident Care and/or Executive Director in the deliveryand participation in Sunrise University training and self-studyprograms. On-board new RCD leaders and other departmentcoordinators as needed. Develop a working knowledge ofstate/provincial regulations and ensure compliance throughsupervising and coaching team members. Complete clinical teammember staffing and scheduling according to operational andbudgetary guidelines when assigned to a community. Hold clinicalteam accountable, correct actions when necessary, and document.
Attend regular meetings; Stand Up, Cross Over, Department Head,Town Hall, QAPI, and others as directed by the Executive Director.
Keep abreast of professional developments in the field by readingand attending conferences and training sessions. Maintaincompliance in assigned required training and all training requiredby state/province or other regulating authorities as applicable tothis role to ensure that Sunrise standards are always met. Performother duties as assigned. Core Competencies Ability to delegateassignments to the appropriate individuals based on theirdemonstrated skill capability and in compliance with allregulations Proven ability to handle multiple priorities, organizeefficiently, and manage time effectively Demonstrated criticalthinking, clinical judgment, and decision-making skills Experienceand Qualifications Graduate of an accredited college or school ofnursing with a current state/provincial license as a professionalRegistered Nurse (RN) Minimum two (2) years RN experience with atleast one (1) year experience in home health, assisted living, orlong-term care environment preferred Minimum of one (1) yearnursing management experience, including hiring, coaching,performance management, scheduling, and daily operationssupervision Certified in CPR and First Aid Demonstrated knowledgeof applied nursing practices, techniques, and methods in accordancewith federal, state/provincial and board of nursing requirements.
Knowledge of infection control practices and prevention of diseasetransmission Experience in tracking, trending, and analysis ofclinical performance data preferred Experience in quality andclinical process improvement and risk assessment preferredExperience in staff development, training, and/or clinicaleducation preferred Computer proficiency with electronic medicalrecords, the Microsoft Office suite, and the ability to learn newapplications Ability to work weekends, evenings and flexible hoursas needed for resident care/services, including 24/7 on callresponsibility
