Position Summary The Director of the CNA program at ECU Health will be responsible for development, certification, implementation, and evaluation of the program. The Director will be responsible for strategies identified by ECU Health for alignment of the program and working collaboratively with multiple disciplines. Such disciplines include Deans/Directors of existing schools offering CNA courses and curriculum, Nursing Leadership, Human Resource at ECU Health, and other disciplines. Minimum Requirements A Bachelors Degree is nursing is required MSN (Education highly recommended)
Training/Licensure:
NC DHHSR and NC BON Requirements:
Must be a Registered Nurse, currently registered in North Carolina with an unencumbered license. Meet requirements for education related to teaching as defined by NC Board of Nursing. Have at least two (2) years of work experience as a registered nurse (4000 hours). Have at least one (1) year (2000 hours) of Registered Nurse experience in the provision of Long-term care facility services demonstrated by: Working in a long-term care facility licensed as a skilled nursing facility, or a skilled nursing facility which is a distinct part of a hospital, or Supervising or teaching students in a long-term care facility licensed as a skilled nursing facility, or a skilled nursing facility which is a distinct part of a hospital.
Knowledge of:
Organizational and management practices as applied to the planning, analysis and evaluation of programs, policies and operational needs. Principles and practices of budget preparation and administration. Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation. Pertinent Federal, State, local laws, and codes. NC Board of Nursing (BON), and NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHSS), rules and regulations. Principles and procedures of academic and instructional program development and administration in the area of assignment. Principles and practices of curriculum development and instructional strategies as related to the NC DHHS and NC BON approved curriculum. Classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures. Current trends, research and development in the area of assignment.
Ability to:
Interpret and apply hospital goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Analyze problems; identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals. Select, supervise, train and evaluate instructional staff. Effectively direct the provisions of the academic area to which assigned in support of the college programs. Gain cooperation through discussion and persuasion. Oversee the preparation and administration of a departmental budget. Conduct committee meetings in an effective and efficient manner.
