$10,000 SIGN-ON BONUS. To be eligible for a sign-on bonus, the candidate must not have worked as a probationary, permanent, or time-limited employee in the last 12 months as an employee subject to the State Human Resources Act. Position is a Charge/Lead Nurse located at Central Prison Healthcare Complex in Raleigh, which houses approximately 1318 close custody male offenders. The Perioperative/Operating Room nurse provides care to patients before, during, and after surgical or endoscopy procedures. This role also entails being a patient educator, functioning as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, and/or first assistant, and supervising other allied personnel. The Operating Room (OR) in the Central Prison Healthcare Complex has 2 fully equipped Operating Rooms, 1 Endoscopy Suite, 10 Pre-op / Post-op bays, and a sterile processing area.
Work Schedule:
The OR operates Monday-Friday, 0630-1500, with no call required and no weekends. OR Employees are off (and paid) on holidays.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Providing direct patient care in the pre/post-operative area while assisting with the preparation, recovery, and discharge of patients for surgical and endoscopy procedures. Circulate and scrub surgical/procedural cases within the services of Endoscopy, ENT, Orthopedic, Podiatry, Urology, and General Surgery. Independently prepare for surgical cases to include acquiring instrumentation, equipment, and supplies as needed as well as the ability to provide direction to the surgical team and unlicensed personnel. Exemplify perioperative standards of care including but not limited to infection control, processing/sterilization of instrumentation, endoscope cleaning, and maintaining cleanliness within the OR environment.
