Unit:

3 West is a 31-bed general medicine unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5. It serves adult patients admitted from the Emergency Department or transferred from higher levels of care. Diagnoses frequently include COPD, diabetes, pneumonia, renal failure, minor neurological conditions, and behavioral health. This unit fosters a positive learning environment with a strong mentorship culture. 30% of the staff are Med/Surg certified, and many hold advanced degrees. Dedicated preceptors and flexible scheduling support educational advancement and work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a team leader and subject matter expert for clinical nursing practice Coordinate orientation, continuing education, and competency validation Provide feedback, performance development, and retention efforts Manage interdisciplinary care planning and patient education Lead unit-based performance improvement and research efforts Collaborate with unit management to supervise scheduling, staffing, and compliance

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program

License/Certification:

Current NC RN license BLS certification ANCC-approved specialty certification (e.g., CMSRN, CCRN, CEN, CPN) within the probationary period

Experience:

At least 3 years of acute care Med/Surg experience within the last 5 years Shift Supervisor or Charge RN experience required

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in a med-surg leadership or supervisory role Strong mentoring and communication skills Team-oriented with a positive, adaptable attitude
