The Job:

The Nurse Manager will be responsible for overseeing and directing clinical support staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and overall efficiency and effectiveness of the team. The Nurse Manager will assist with implementing and evaluating healthcare policies and procedures, managing budgets, schedules and personnel, while guiding and supporting the department.

Duties & Responsibilities Complete all necessary paperwork related to the position and/or yourself in a timely manner. Recruits, interviews, and onboards new employees as necessary. Oversees orientation of new staff. Coordinates and facilitates Clinical Support Staff meetings. Ensures effective communication and coordination among team members through training and effective team meetings. Works with management team to ensure nurses and medical assistants are working within full scope of their license/certificate. Works with management team to establish and implements clinical policies and procedures. Responsible for performance of clinical support staff. Develop and build teams through training, guidance, and professional coaching efforts, ensuring that teams are knowledgeable regarding patient communication with our patient population. Organize, plan, and prioritize work in accordance to Harbor Care performance measures and objectives. Ensures Harbor Care compliance with medical standards, regulations, federal and state laws. Ensures compliance with all FQHC requirements and other grant funded program requirements. Lead participant in the medication management grant program, ensures all required reporting is completed within the designated timeframe. Oversees the vaccination program and ensures accurate reporting is submitted to the NHIIS. Provides or coordinates He-M 1202 training to residential facilities. Ensures exam rooms and clinic overall are being properly stocked. Responsible for ordering and keeping an inventory of all clinic/medical supplies. Provides the necessary coverage when the department is short staffed. Main contact for the New Hampshire Health Alert Network (NH DOH HAN) notices and responsible for reviewing and sharing information with staff, as appropriate. Participates in Harbor Care Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement efforts. Liaison to the following operations of the

Harbor Care:

Patient billing and insurance, purchasing, facilities management, reception, forms, data collection and reports, and IT as they relate to clinical services. Health care risk management training for clinical support staff. Completion of quarterly risk management assessments by the health center. Participates in annual reporting to the health center board which includes: completed risk management activities; health center performance; and proposed risk management activities. Identifying and mitigating the health care areas/activities of highest risk within the health center’s HRSA-approved scope of project, including but not limited to tracking referrals, diagnostics, and hospital admissions ordered by health center providers. Documenting, analyzing, and addressing clinically-related complaints and “near misses” reported by health center employees, patients, and other individuals. Setting and tracking progress related to annual risk management goals. Developing and implementing an annual health care risk management training plan for all staff members based on identified areas/activities of highest clinical risk for the health center (including, but not limited to, obstetrical procedures and infection control) and any non-clinical trainings appropriate for health center staff (including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) medical record confidentiality requirements). Completes risk management training annually. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing. 10 years of experience as a Registered Nurse. Management experience in a Healthcare setting. Current registration and licensure in the State of New Hampshire. Current CPR certification

Preferred Qualifications :

Knowledge of The Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Regulations is a plus. Master’s Degree preferred. Five or more years of outpatient experience preferred. Knowledge of computers and software applications or ability to learn quickly. Experience working with people from diverse populations. Ability to work as an effective team member is essential. Competencies Bi-lingual English/Spanish or English/Portuguese desired but not required. Good oral, written and reading communication skills. Have the ability to understand verbal and written instructions. Read and write documentation in patient record. Program development. Experience with medical records and quality improvement practices. General knowledge of Information Technology (IT) and data systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Resourcefulness, flexibility and integrity. Respectful of people and their cultural, religious and ethnic differences. Ability to function in a team-oriented environment. Attention to detail. Proficient in taking vital signs and basic RN skills. Ability to make meaningful observations and document these findings. Ability to organize and prioritize work. Provides anticipatory guidance, screening and health education to patients to promote and maintain health. Initiates treatment for patients with commonly occurring health problems which lie within the nurse specialist’s scope of practice by using a systematic approach to history and physical appraisal of patients and/or families through clinical judgment of evaluated data. Prescribes, coordinates, delegates and evaluates care. Plans appropriate care utilizing community resources and acts as a liaison by relaying information necessary for continuity of care to other health professionals and agencies. Instructs individual and/or families or groups about health or defined health problems. Participates in Quality Assurance activities. Participates in research projects. Participates in education of graduate nursing students, as assigned. Promotes community relations; anticipates and responds to the needs of others; aids in a courteous, quick manner; treats others with care and respect maintaining privacy, confidentiality and dignity. Maintain a neat, clean and professional appearance and work space. Appropriate footwear for all seasons. Conduct oneself in a manner that promotes safety. Other duties as required by Practice Administrator.
