$86,650.99 – $134,309.04 Job DescriptionSummary The Assistant Nurse Manager has responsibility, authority,and accountability for the delivery of patient care within thedefined patient care area on the assigned primary shift of work.

The Assistant Nurse Manager contributes to the goal setting and thedefining of opportunities for each patient care area for which theyare responsible that is consistent with the organizational goalsand strategic nursing initiatives. The Assistant Nurse Managermentors staff for the development of a patient care team thatdemonstrates nursing leadership, professionalism, competency, andquality. The Assistant Nurse Manager is collegial and customeroriented to patients, family, peers, and physicians, as throughputand care coordination is achieved. The Assistant Nurse Manager isan expert in the care of patients within the unit of specialty.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

A Baccalaureate in nursingdegree is required, a Master’s of Nursing Preferred. Must holdcurrent New York State Registered Nurse registration or eligiblefor licensure in New York State.

EXPERIENCE

Management experiencepreferred.

Able to communicate effectively atall levels within the organization and with external customers andagencies. Creates a collegial and collaborative environment amongall members of the healthcare team. Articulates clear expectationswith staff and members of the patient care team.

PROFESSIONALSKILLS

Demonstrates responsibility and accountability fordecisions. Utilizes problem-solving and decision making skills.

Coaches and mentors staff.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to identifyproblems, collect data, establish facts, and draw validconclusions. Ability to improve job performance through continuingeducation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described hereare representative of those that must be met by an employee tosuccessfully perform the essential functions of this job. Whileperforming the duties of this job, the employee is regularlyrequired to stand, walk, use hands to probe, handle, or feelobjects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and speakand hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop,kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move upto 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this jobinclude close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depthperception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Thework environment characteristics described here are representativeof those an employee encounters while performing the essentialfunctions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, theemployee may be subject to infectious materials and chemicals (seeunit specific MSDS information). The noise level in the workenvironment is usually moderate. This job requires as an essentialfunction that the majority of the time the employee be physicallyon-site as the work cannot be done from a remote location.
