Job Description
Nurse Manager Adult Unit 2.5 2.5 out of 5 stars 1 Havenwood Lane, Travelers Rest, SC 29690 Springbrook Behavioral Health System is current seeking a Nurse Manager for our Adult Psych Unit. Under general direction, provides supervision of nursing staff, CNA and mental health assistants. Directs all nursing activities within the Adult Unit and assesses the quality of nursing and healthcare services provided to patients. Coordinates with staff of various divisions such as Pharmacy, Therapy, and Admissions. Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, Joint Commission, CMS and other regulatory agencies. Evaluates employee performance, monitors attendance, analyzes and evaluates the need for staff training and provides staff training on patient treatment issues. Interviews candidates for staffing needs and conducts new employee orientation to department policies, procedures, processes, etc. Participates in departmental and team meetings to discuss patient care, progress and program policies/procedures. Participates in chart review, making necessary corrections. Ensures that Physician orders are followed correctly and participates in other Committees such as monthly management.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited college of nursing. BSN required, Certification in Psychiatric nursing preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of four yrs experience in inpatient psychiatric nursing. Demonstrated leadership ability as Charge Nurse or Nurse Manager required
Licensure:
S.C. Registered Nurse or compact state
Physical:
Medium work exerting 20+ pounds of force occasionally. Requires standing and walking for long periods.
Special Skills:
Demonstrates understanding of psychiatric illness, and its treatment including a sound knowledge regarding psychotropic medications, behavior management, and biopsychosocial functioning across the life span. Demonstrates sound judgement, initiative, integrity, dependability, decision making abilities, excellent command of written and oral instructions, leadership/management/teaching skills.
