Assist with screening eligible inmates to participate in the hospice and palliative care program. Generate a health education/training program for inmates that have been selected to participate in the hospice and palliative care program. Develop and implement innovative strategies for end-of-life and geriatric care to include those diagnosed with dementia, as the IR demands for healthcare become increasingly complicated. Make site visits to specific locations where certified hospice care inmates provide assistance to ensure compliance with program standards. Collaborates with other correctional professionals to assure medical, social, psychological, and security needs of the geriatric inmates are met. Maintain appropriate documentation for analytical and statistical purposes. Serves as the backup coordinator for medical furloughs and medical parole. Resume preferred but not required. Minimum and Additional Requirements State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and related nursing experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources). An associates degree in nursing and one (1) year experience as a registered nurse, including one (1) year supervisory nursing experience. Must have an active nursing license in the state of South Carolina or qualfying compact state. Must have basic life support certification. Preferred Qualifications Experience in geriatric care/nurse to include experience with dementia and/or hospice care/nursing is preferred.
