Position Summary:
Direct the day-to-day functions of theNursing Unit in accordance with current standards governinglong-term care facilities, ensuring the highest degree of qualitycare for residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing,evaluating, and directing nursing services. Develop and update policies and procedures for the nursingservice department. Resolve issues related to resident/patient care, includingfamily concerns. Ensure reference materials at nurses’ stations arecurrent. Maintain the Nursing Service Procedures Manual. Participate in the facility’s quality assurance program. Perform administrative duties such as completing medical formsand reports. Make nursing diagnoses and assessments. Develop and implement nursing care plans. Review nurses’ notes for accuracy and completeness. Authorize the use of restraints when necessary. Provide health education to patients and families. Assist in developing annual in-service training programs. Participate in developing assessments and care plans forresidents. Encourage resident and family participation in care plandevelopment. Ensure all personnel are aware of and follow the resident’scare plan. Maintain good rapport with all services involved in the careplan. Participate in quality assurance activities. Adhere to scope of practice limitations. Complete required forms and documents. Perform general nursing duties in emergencies or staffingshortages. Maintain confidentiality of resident careinformation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to make independent decisions and accept constructivecriticism. Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, families,and the public. Ability to maintain supplies and equipment. Ability to seek out and incorporate new methods andprinciples. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practicalsituations. Ability to solve practical problems and interpretinstructions. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Prolonged use of a computer and office equipment. Travel may be required.
Education & Experience:
Graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor ofScience Degree in Nursing preferred. Good standing with the State Board of Nursing and maintenanceof required continuing education/licensing. 1-3 years of supervisory experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products; knowledge of PCCpreferred.
