The Unit Manager provides supervision of staff andwill safeguard the health, safety and welfare of allResidents/residents under their care by following applicable laws,regulations, and established nursing policies andprocedures.
Essential Functions1. Provides quality nursing care toResidents/residents in an environment that promotes their rights,dignity and freedom of choice.2. Provides supervision to C.N.As andall subordinate staff which includes checking their work toascertain that assignments have been completed.3. Supervises directcare of residents and nursing personnel on his/her shift.4. Givesand receives shift reports.5. Rounds the unit multiple times duringthe shift to assure proper care is rendered in a safe and cleanenvironment.6. Keeps physicians and families aware of changes inresidents condition.7. Assists in developing comprehensive careplans.8. Completes medical records documenting care provided andother information in accordance with nursing policies whilemaintaining strict confidentiality.9. Assure that establishedinfection control and standard precaution practices are maintainedwhen providing care. Follow established safety precautions whenpreforming tasks and using equipment and supplies.
SupervisoryResponsibilityThis position has direct supervisor responsibilitiesfor Certified Nurse Aides and other personnel assigned.
RequiredEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent.
Graduatefrom and accredited nursing program.
Current State License as aRN.(LPN)C.P.R. CertifiedPreferred Education and Experience One yearexperience as a nurse in a long-term care setting.
