Job Description
Position Summary
Sunday – Wednesday (10-hour days) as a full time occupational therapist. The weekend option is a promise to work one weekend day and an additional 5% is accumulated on top of the hourly rate. The hospital has 285 beds and 24 emergency beds and our poplulation is mixed with adults and children. We are a full service hospital that supports two free standings as well. Responsibilities
The Occupational Therapist, Weekend Option treats patients with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. They help these patients develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working. This position is used primarily to supplement weekend staffing.
Essential Functions

  • Evaluates patients, gathering data from the patient, physician, interdisciplinary team meetings if available, family and significant
    other persons and data sources.
  • Develops treatment plans which integrate with the continuum of care and have specific goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to treat and provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned
    caseload.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify
    each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as delineated in the departmental
    policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates competency in the use, care and maintenance of profession specific equipment, observing safety precautions and
    providing verbal explanations of the equipment and its purpose.
  • Re-evaluates and modifies treatment plan and goals when appropriate, and prepares written documentation as required by the
    department, and the care team.
  • Recognizes and communicates when the patient has received optimal benefit from therapy.
  • Ensures accurate billing.
  • Ads to State Practice Act and Standards of Practice.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state
    and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures
    Qualifications
    Education/TrainingBachelor’s degree from an approved program in occupational therapy.
    Licensure/Certification
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
  • Maintains current Occupational Therapist license in the State of Florida-temporary permit acceptable.
