Job Profile Summary ? This role focuses on assessing the needsof patients who have physical, mental, or emotional disabilitiesand delivering therapy services to improve their developmental,physical or cognitive impairment . In addition, this role focuseson performing the following Occupational Therapy duties: Evaluatespatients and helps them improve basic motor functions and reasoningabilities, but also compensate for permanent loss of function byteaching them to perform tasks in their daily living and workingenvironments. These patients may have conditions that are mentally,physically, developmentally, or emotionally disabling. Assistspatients in selecting appropriate adaptive equipment and assistivedevices . A professional individual contributor role that maydirect the work of other lower level professionals or manageprocesses and programs . The majority of time is spent overseeingthe design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs andpolicies using specialized knowledge and skills typically acquiredthrough advanced education . An experienced level role that appliespractical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advancededucation and work experience . Works independently with generalsupervision, problems faced are difficult but typically notcomplex, and may influence others within the job area throughexplanation of facts, policies and practices. Job Overview Th isposition evaluates, develops and implements specific treatmentprograms for individual patients with a wide variety ofdisabilities in the inpatient, transitional care, and outpatientsettings. This position is educated and experienced in treatingpatients of all age groups according the principles and practice ofoccupational therapy . Treatment plans are intended to helppatients achieve a maximum level independence effecting theiractivities of daily living using various therapeutic exercises,activities, modalities and skills.

Job Description MinimumQualifications :

1. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy . 2.Occupational Therapy (OT) license. 3. National Board ofCertification in Occupational Therapy registration. 4. Basic LifeSupport (BLS) Certification. 5 . One (1) year of clinicalexperience.

Preferred Qualifications :

1. Master’s degree inOccupational Therapy . 2. Two (2) years of clinical experience.

Duties and Responsibilities :

The duties and responsibilitieslisted below are intended to describe the general nature of workand are not intended to be an all-inclusive list . Other duties andresponsibilities may be assigned. 1. Provides comprehensiveevaluation and assessment of patient’s physical, cognitive andself-care status. Assesses and reassesses patient pain and otherproblem areas, including the patient’s goals to develop appropriatetreatment plans to assist patient in attaining maximum functionaloutcomes. 2. Sets realistic short- and long-term goals and plan ofcare related to patient’s occupational therapy needs within themusculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary, and integumentarysystems. 3. Interacts professionally with patient and family;involves patient in the formation of plan of care; formulates ateaching plan based upon identified learning, cultural andpsychosocial needs . 4. Communicates clearly and appropriately topatients, families, physicians, staff and all other customergroups. 5. Demonstrates the ability to carry out the appropriatetreatment plan. Demonstrates initiative, organization, andfollow-through. 6. Works directly and collaboratively with theinterdisciplinary health care team, the patient, and the patient’sfamily to promote maximum level of patient safety and independencein discharge planning. 7. Supervises and educates students andevaluates the students performance . 8. Educates colleagues andhospital employees regarding role of occupational therapy. 9.Maintains and completes proper and timely documentation in themedical record for all patients treated to promote communication tophysicians and to ensure proper reimbursement. 10. Ensuresdocumentation and billing is accurate and reflective of servicesprovided in accordance with departmental guidelines.

PhysicalRequirements :

1. O ccasional sitting, frequent standing, walking &transferring of patients. 2. M anual dexterity using fine handmanipulation to operate computer keyboard, dexterity to providequantitative testing and manual treatment techniques to a widevariety of patients. 3. Ability to see computer screen and reports. Visually assess injury and functional status of patients . and 2.Ability to audibly assess patient subjective complaints.

1. Demonstrate interpersonal skills includingcommunication, teamwork, and willing to work one-on-one or a groupbasis. 2. Ability to work independently, to be self-motivated andwell organized. Ability to function well in very busy situations.3. Responsible and reliable. 4. Demonstrates flexibility and ableto adjust to changes at a moment’s notice. 5 . Maturity to operateeffectively within a multi-disciplinary setting. 6. Able to workeffectively with a wide variety of patients with acute and long -term disability. 7. Ability to read/write and communicate inEnglish. 8. Ability to assess the needs of patients of alldifferent age populations in order to provide care appropriately.9. Ability to observe and evaluate treatment effects and adjustsplan of care as appropriate . 10. Knowledge of occupational therapyprinciples, practices, and other treatment skills . 11. Ability toobserve and evaluate treatment effect and adjust plan of care asappropriate . 12. Demonstrates proper time management skills toattain department productivity while assuring quality patient care.13. Ability to apply knowledge of physical modalities, splinting,therapeutic exercise, adaptive equipment and other treatment skills.
