Responsibilities:
The Occupational Therapist will primarily provideoutpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for theolder adult population. The in-home setting could be a patient’sprivate residence or in a patient’s room in an independent livingfacility. Powerback Rehabilitation To You allows the OccupationalTherapist to evaluate and treat in the most functional environmentwhich is the patient’s home. The Occupational Therapist organizesand conducts occupational therapy programs for the agency tofacilitate rehabilitation. In addition, they direct patientparticipation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhanceperformance. The Occupational Therapist facilitates the learning ofthose skills and functions essential for adaptation andproductivity, in order to diminish or correct pathology. Thisposition provides a flexible schedule and work environment invarious settings. 1. As necessary or applicable, supervision ofOccupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students andsupport personnel in accordance with state licensure requirementsand professional standards. 2. Responsible for adherence todepartment and patient treatment schedule, timely clinical andbilling documentation requirements as well as work relatedmeetings. 3. Attends and contributes to patient care, staffingconferences and other related meetings. 4. Makes referrals to otherdisciplines, agencies in order to address the comprehensive needsof the patient. 5. Consults with other members of therehabilitation team, including the community physician, to selectthe most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with the needsand capabilities of each patient. 6. Adapts program and/or plan ofcare according to the needs of individual patients. 7. Promotes asafe environment and enforces the elimination of fire and safetyhazards. 8. Orders supplies and equipment as necessary. 9. Cleans,maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipmentas necessary. 10.
Puts patient service first:
ensures that patientsand families receive the highest quality of service in a caring andcompassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needsand rights. 11. Screens, examines and evaluates patients, includinghistory, systems review, and application of appropriate tests andmeasures, synthesis information and interprets examination findingsin order to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, determinethe predicted level of improvement and the time required to achieveit, identify precautions/contraindications and design and plan ofcare. Develops appropriate treatment goals and methods incollaboration with the patient and caregivers, implements theoccupational therapy treatment plan, and completes all relateddocumentation and record keeping regarding these services. Servicesinclude but are not limited to application of therapeutictechniques in areas such as:

- sitting and standing tolerance

- activities of daily living
- joint protection
- work simplification

- physical agent modalities

- Case Management skills inthe home and community space 12.
Designs, fabricates, fits and/orapplies adaptive devices, and trains patients in the use ofadaptive devices including orthotics and prosthetics. 13. Selectsappropriate activities suited to the individual’s physical andmental capacity, intelligence level and interest. 14. Instructspatients in the skills and techniques required for participation infunctional activities and evaluates patient progress, attitudes,and behavior as related to rehabilitative potential. 15. Performsroutine reexamination as needed/required to modify/progress plan oftreatment. 16. Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
1. They must have a Bachelor’s degree in anoccupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards. 2.They must have initial registration from the National Board forCertification in Occupational Therapy. 3. The OccupationalTherapist must hold a valid and unencumbered occupational therapylicense as required in the state of practice. 4. Must have a validdriver’s license or reliable, independent transportation to andfrom the patient’s residence.
Posted Salary Range:
USD $50.00 – USD$62.00 /Hr.
