POSITION SUMMARY
The Occupational Therapist will primarilyprovide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home settingfor the older adult population. The in-home setting could be apatient’s private residence or in a patient’s room in anindependent living facility. Powerback Rehabilitation To You allowsthe Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat in the mostfunctional environment which is the patient’s home. TheOccupational Therapist organizes and conducts occupational therapyprograms for the agency to facilitate rehabilitation. In addition,they direct patient participation in selected tasks to restore,reinforce, and enhance performance. The Occupational Therapistfacilitates the learning of those skills and functions essentialfor adaptation and productivity, in order to diminish or correctpathology. This position provides a flexible schedule and workenvironment in varioussettings.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. As necessary orapplicable, supervision of Occupational Therapy Assistants,temporary licensees, students and support personnel in accordancewith state licensure requirements and professional standards.2.Responsible for adherence to department and patient treatmentschedule, timely clinical and billing documentation requirements aswell as work related meetings.3. Attends and contributes to patientcare, staffing conferences and other related meetings.4. Makesreferrals to other disciplines, agencies in order to address thecomprehensive needs of the patient.5. Consults with other membersof the rehabilitation team, including the community physician, toselect the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with theneeds and capabilities of each patient.6. Adapts program and/orplan of care according to the needs of individual patients.7.Promotes a safe environment and enforces the elimination of fireand safety hazards.8. Orders supplies and equipment as necessary.9.Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair ofequipment as necessary.10.

ensures thatpatients and families receive the highest quality of service in acaring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes theindividuals’ needs and rights.11. Screens, examines and evaluatespatients, including history, systems review, and application ofappropriate tests and measures, synthesis information andinterprets examination findings in order to establish a diagnosis,identify impairments, determine the predicted level of improvementand the time required to achieve it, identifyprecautions/contraindications and design and plan of care. Developsappropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with thepatient and caregivers, implements the occupational therapytreatment plan, and completes all related documentation and recordkeeping regarding these services. Services include but are notlimited to application of therapeutic techniques in areas such as:cognitive skills muscle strength coordination endurance mobilityperceptual abilities sensory awareness sitting and standingtolerance balance activities of daily living joint protection worksimplification orientation physical agent modalities low visionfalls risk management medication management health and wellnesscommunity integration and reintegration Case Management skills inthe home and community space12. Designs, fabricates, fits and/orapplies adaptive devices, and trains patients in the use ofadaptive devices including orthotics and prosthetics.13. Selectsappropriate activities suited to the individual’s physical andmental capacity, intelligence level and interest.14. Instructspatients in the skills and techniques required for participation infunctional activities and evaluates patient progress, attitudes,and behavior as related to rehabilitative potential.15. Performsroutine reexamination as needed/required to modify/progress plan oftreatment.16. Performs other related duties asrequired.
SHAREOTHVRequirements:
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONALREQUIREMENTS
1. They must be a graduate of an occupational therapycurriculum accredited by
AOTA & ACOTE
standards; or2. They musthave a Bachelor’s degree from an occupational therapy curriculumaccredited by
AOTA & ACOTE
standards plus 5 years of progressivelyresponsible OT experience.3. They must have initial registrationfrom the National Board for Certification in OccupationalTherapy.4. They must be able to practice occupational therapy perstate guidelines.5. The Occupational Therapist must be licensedand/or eligible for licensure as required in the state ofpractice.6. Must have a valid driver’s license or reliable,independent transportation to and from the patients’residence.
Compensation:
Up to $61 per hour
