Job Description

Position Goal:

To support students’ academic success and functional independence by providing occupational therapy services that enhance their ability to access, participate in, and benefit from the educational environment. The Occupational Therapist collaborates with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote inclusive practices, facilitate student engagement, and develop motor, sensory, and self-care skills aligned with individualized education goals. The therapist ensures services are delivered in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including IDEA and Section 504, while maintaining accurate documentation to support Medicaid billing and reimbursement where applicable.

Education, Training, Skills, Experience, & Licensure Requirements:

Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in New Hampshire.
Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
Experience working with children in educational settings is preferred.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and relevant educational laws and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct evaluations and re-evaluations using standardized and functional assessments. to determine eligibility and need for occupational therapy services.
Develop Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives in collaboration with the IEP team.
Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services as outlined in students’ IEPs.
Develop Response to Intervention (RTI) plans and provide services as outlined in plans.
Support students in developing fine motor skills, sensory regulation, visual-motor integration, self-care, and organizational skills.
Adapt and modify the learning environment and educational materials to support student access and participation.
Provide training, resources, and consultation to teachers, paraprofessionals, and families.
Maintain accurate documentation including evaluation reports, progress notes, service logs, and Medicaid billing records (if applicable).
Participate in IEP meetings, student support teams, and other collaborative planning efforts.
Provide supervision for COTAs as needed.
Comply with federal, state, and local regulations regarding special education and therapy services.
Stay current with best practices, continuing education, and professional licensure requirements.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Designee.

Follows health and safety procedures established by the district.

Demonstrates dependability and integrity. Ensure compliance with federal laws, state laws, and school policies.
