Occupational Therapist The Occupational Therapist isforward-thinking who excels at assessing patients’ strengths andweaknesses and devising creative but effective treatment plans.

Therapists must practice discretion & maintain patientconfidentiality. Must operate a high-energy, positive-thinkingenvironment and offer patients positive encouragement to achievetheir goals. You will be expected to utilize your training andskills to aid patients in the goal of healing, recovering,improving pain level/tolerance, and maximizing functionalindependence. Occupational Therapist examines patients usingfundamental clinical knowledge, implements a treatment plan andexecutes plan of care on a daily basis. We are also seeking anapplicant with experience in Hand Therapy. The ideal applicant willhave comprehensive knowledge of Hand Therapy screens/evaluations,treatments and orthosis fabrication.

WhatYou’ll Need:
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree required, Doctoratedegree preferred
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist
  • Certified HandTherapist (CHT) preferred, but not required
  • 1 years of experienceworking in an outpatient hand therapy center preferred
  • Completedstate regulated CEU requirement in appropriate state (NY, NJ)
  • Valid CPR License
  • Experience/knowledge with an EMR software ispreferred
  • Excellent oral, written communication
  • Strong clinicaldecision-making skills
  • 1 year(s) professional OT experience
  • Excellent work ethic and dedication to patient success
  • Basiccomputer skills
  • Works as a team member and individually withminimal supervision
  • Maintains a positive, professional demeanorat all times
What You’ll Do:
  • Performs comprehensive evaluations,assessments, and interventions for patients with post-surgical andnon-surgical Upper Extremity diagnoses.
  • Fabricates customorthoses for patients with various orthopedic upper extremitydiagnoses.
  • Collects and records patient care data that followsformat and guidelines of the patient care service, regulatoryagencies and third party payers which reflects an understanding ofreimbursement systems and their impact on patient care.
  • Thisincludes, but is not limited to, initial evaluation, daily notes,reassessments/progress reports, discharge plans and communicationwith members of the team.
  • Additionally records daily billing andfollows department guidelines for productivity.
  • Prepares for theevaluation in accordance with department policies/procedures andstandards of practice including obtaining patient history,exhibiting knowledge of patient diagnoses and researchingunfamiliar diagnoses.
  • Selects and administers tests and measures.
  • Additionally, synthesizes evaluation results to formulate thediagnosis, goals, prognosis and plan of care.
  • Establishestreatment plan based on evaluation results, goals and bestpractice. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team, patients andpatient’s support system. Assesses and re-assesses need formodifications to plan of care and goals.
  • Identifies need forconsultations and/or refers the patient to another health careprofessional or health care services. Initiates and completesdischarge plan.
  • Provides education/training to patient and/orpatient support system
  • Functional Training-This includes but isnot limited to:, therapeutic activities ADLs/IADLs, rehabilitationequipment prescription and training
  • MusculoskeletalInterventions-This includes but is not limited to: therapeuticexercise, joint mobilization and modalities
  • Provide data, notewriting using Prompt EMR for all treatments provided
  • Overseesupport staff of
COTA, OT

  • Attends annual JAG PT Billing andCoding seminar
  • Present 1 facility level in- service annually
  • Promotes JAG PT in the community through lectures/presentation
  • Demonstrates respectful interactions with patients, colleagues, andothers
  • Other duties as assigned
