Job Description Purpose of Position:

Under direct supervision, where required, of a duly licensed professional staff member in the respective field of discipline, assists in providing technical and/or para-professional services in patient care and assists in rendering rehabilitative, occupational or physical therapeutic care in activity areas relating to the efficient and effective delivery of rehabilitative, therapeutic, medical and health care.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Obtains equipment, materials and supplies from storage areas and positions them appropriately for use. Assembles and disassembles equipment or accessories and assists in adapting equipment for patients. Prepares equipment such as hydrotherapy tanks, paraffin bath and hot packs, by filling tanks, checking and adjusting temperature controls and setting automatic timing devices. Assists in routine treatment procedures and other therapeutic activities including but not limited to hydrocolator pack, whirlpool and infra-red, range of motions tests, progressive restive exercises and general conditioning exercise programs under direct supervision of licensed Physical Therapist. Assists therapists to position patient in, at or on equipment, devices or treatment tables, and by showing, aiding and working with patients in hospitals or treatment centers designed to accomplish rehabilitation. Observes patients undergoing therapeutic exercises and other types of treatment. Assists in providing prescribed treatment through use of hand and/or equipment. Adjusts wheelchair, braces, crutches and canes
Minimum Qualifications 1. One year of satisfactory experience as described in “Examples of Typical Tasks” in a hospital, health care or medical facility; or 2. One year of satisfactory experience in providing non-professional nursing or medical support services in a hospital, health care or medical facility and satisfactory completion of a training program responsive to the level of the prescribed duties.
