GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the overall supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation, the Physical Therapy Aide gives assistance in treatment, patient care, and general departmental functions not requiring formalized training of Physical Therapy.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB
Assists with patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist/Physical Therapist Assistant, following ethical/clinical
APTA/PPTA
guidelines. Demonstrates good basic patient management skills, including but not limited to: patient transportation, transfers limited to minimal assistance, basic bed mobility, assistance with patient toileting, modality and equipment set-up, ambulation guarding and whirlpools. Performs general set-up and clean-up of gym and departmental maintenance according to infection control, safety, procedural and preventative maintenance guidelines. Assists PT secretary and departmental management in clerical duties including but not limited to filing, faxing, photocopying, and patient scheduling. Maintains an awareness of general health and safety precautions of patients and alerts necessary personnel of problems observed. Maintains open lines of communication with supervisors and departmental management, especially with regards to patient status. Assists with proper and timely requisitions of departmental supplies. Performs independently and responsibly specific PT Aide duties as assigned. Assists in the training of new PT Aide staff. Participates in all functions required for weekend therapy coverage. Coordinates and arranges coverage for all aides within inpatient PT department and satellite clinics.
